CoD Black Ops 6 has nerfed the strongest weapon so far for the 2nd beta weekend, but players already know what the new meta could be.
Which weapon is it about? The Jackal PDW is a submachine gun that dominated the lobbies during the first beta weekend.
The Jackal PDW had an outstanding TTK at medium range, which distinguished it particularly from other SMGs and made it reminiscent of an assault rifle due to its low recoil. At close range, it was also far superior to any assault rifle due to its mobility.
The problem was that the weapon performed so strongly that players had hardly any chance in direct comparison with other weapons. This made it senseless for many players to use any other weapon than the Jackal PDW.
How was the Jackal PDW nerfed? Treyarch Studios shared a post on X stating that the Jackal PDW was nerfed for the Open Beta of BO6.
However, it is still not known how exactly the developers have nerfed the strong SMG, as no patch notes have been released yet. In another message on X, Treyarch mentioned that the patch notes will be released for the 2nd beta weekend.
This was changed:
- max damage reduced – from 29 to 26
- Distance for max damage reduced – from 15.24 m to 14.61 m
- Damage at close and medium range reduced – from 23 to 22
- Range for damage at close and medium range reduced from 29.21 m to 26.04 m
- Minimum damage reduced from 19 to 15
- Strength of the optical kick increased
- CHF barrel: Headshot multiplier improved from 1.2 to 1.4
Which weapon will be played instead? Treyarch itself recommends a new weapon that will be playable with the Open Beta: the Tanto .22. This is also a fully automatic submachine gun.
Most players are already looking forward to trying the Tanto and are convinced that it will be just as strong a weapon and an alternative to the Jackal PDW.

The Tanto was already playable at the “COD Next” event for the attending content creators and was used by many. It seemed really strong in the various streams. Other players believe that the C9 – also a submachine gun – could now shine as well (via X.com)
