Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently celebrating the conclusion of the most successful beta ever. In four categories, the test has set a new milestone. However, players do not believe that this is due to the quality of the game.
Why was it the most successful beta ever? The new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has set a new record in four categories. The two beta weekends resulted in a huge influx of players and ranked the test number 1 among all CoD titles in the following categories:
- #1 total players
- #1 total hours played
- #1 playtime per person
- #1 most played number of matches
For this reason, the developers declared the beta as the “largest Call of Duty beta ever.” However, players are not convinced that the statistics are comparable to previous installments, especially because they did not find the new Call of Duty outstandingly good.

Another reason is said to have secured the success of the beta
What do players think? On Reddit, user Shandowarden shares the developers’ image of Call of Duty. In the comments, instead of pure praise for the “best” beta, there are rather sober comments attempting to explain why the Call of Duty beta was so successful. They believe that the player influx can be attributed to two reasons.
The main reason that many players attribute to the success of Black Ops 6 is the Gamepass. Among fans, it has long been no secret that players want to use the Gamepass to save themselves from the most expensive Call of Duty ever.
The Gamepass allows players to play the new Call of Duty for very little money. Many players were also able to play the beta at no additional cost thanks to the Gamepass. For just one euro, users could sign up for a trial subscription and thus try out the new Black Ops.
But a second reason is also frequently mentioned on Reddit. Users point to the cancellation of the exclusive PlayStation beta. Players who have played Call of Duty on PlayStation have always had a certain period of exclusivity in testing the new CoD over the past years.
This year, there was no such exclusivity, which also contributed to increasing player numbers in the first days.
Did the game receive poor feedback? No, in the post on Reddit, many users describe that they had a lot of fun with the new part of Call of Duty. The beta was generally well-received, and many users want to also check out the finished game thanks to the Gamepass.
However, some found it more difficult to adapt to the new Omni-Movement and wished for a return to slower, more classic parts of Call of Duty, as you can read in our article: “No room to breathe” – CoD Black Ops 6 is so fast that fans wish for a change
