The best game of the year 2025 is getting a movie. We reveal what is known about the film of Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
It became clear once players worldwide could get their hands on Clair Obscur Expedition 33: The gameplay is strong, and the story of the RPG has the potential to be one of the best narratives in the history of video games. The grand story has also ensured that Clair Obscur Expedition 33 will be adapted into a live-action film.
The current information about the film is still sparse – we compile everything that is currently known.
Note: As soon as there are new updates, this article will be appropriately updated. Currently, it is up to date as of May 19, 2025.
When was the film confirmed? The film was already confirmed before Expedition 33 went on sale. As early as January 2025, Sandfall Interactive and Kepler (the developer and publisher of the game) signed a contract with Story Kitchen for the film adaptation.
Story Kitchen is still relatively young but has already snagged some big titles to work on their adaptations. In addition to a “Tomb Raider” series on Netflix, they are also working on a film adaptation of “Split Fiction,” a series adaptation of “Life is Strange” – and now, of course, Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Who plays which role in the film? The casting for Clair Obscur Expedition 33 has not yet been completed. Therefore, no actors have been confirmed for the roles.
When will the film be released? This is a question that likely cannot be answered satisfactorily in the foreseeable future. At this point, the casting is not even complete, so no one should expect a release of the film in 2025 or 2026. Depending on how quickly pre-production goes, 2027 would likely be a realistic date.
However, reliable information on this is still not available.
