In an interview, Cillian Murphy, the main actor of the gangster series “Peaky Blinders – Gangs of Birmingham”, spoke about whether he would play the role of Thomas Shelby again after the series ended.
In an interview with Desert Island Discs, a radio program from the BBC, the actor discussed whether he would return to Peaky Blinders for the upcoming film after the series concluded.
Filming for the new project is set to start in mid-2024. However, no official information has been given about the cast of the Peaky Blinders film yet.

Cillian Murphy would be open to a return
As the actor explained in the interview, he is certainly willing to reprise his role as Thomas Shelby, the head of the titular gangster gang.
However, only on the condition that Stephen Knight writes a script that piques his interest and tells a new story. Nevertheless, he is optimistic and has great trust in the screenwriter:
If there is more to tell and if Stephen Knight delivers a script that I know he can, because he is such a phenomenal writer, then I will be there. I mean, if we want to see the 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, let’s do it.
