World of Warcraft – Cold Greetings from Overwatch
When it comes to Christmas in online role-playing games, World of Warcraft cannot be missed. Blizzard’s record MMO celebrates the “Winter Veil Celebration” during the Christmas season. This honors the “Great Father Winter,” a powerful being whose breath manifests in snowflakes.
To celebrate the festival, the cities of Ironforge and Orgrimmar are festively decorated, and gifts will await under a large tree on December 25. Among them is the new “Endothermic Blaster,” a toy clearly inspired by Mei from Overwatch. In addition to the gifts, there are again numerous events, including the rescue of the reindeer Metzen. The event lasts until January 2.
Overwatch – “Today we are all Mei”
Mei is also coldly coveted during Christmas time in Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch! The cute polar researcher is the heroine of “Mei’s Snowball Fight.” This is a new brawl mode where each player is Mei. Each Mei has a snowball in her cannon. This kills the opponent instantly, but you have to laboriously reload the ice projectile back into snow piles.
As with the Halloween events, there are again special skins and voice lines, this time with Christmas themes. Especially cool: The elite costumes for Mei, Torbjörn, Tracer, and McCree. The latter appears as the Christmas miser Ebenezer Scrooge. You can find the skins in all loot boxes until January 2.
The Elder Scrolls Online – Naked Nords and Drunken Orsimer
The Elder Scrolls Online brings you not just one Christmas event but nine! Each race in Tamriel celebrates the “New Year Celebration” differently, and your hero is invited to every festival.
By order of the festive enthusiast Breda, we travel every day to all races of the world and complete special tasks for them. Especially funny: The Wood Elves want you to throw dirt at high dignitaries while you prepare a hearty feast for the rough warriors of the Orcs. At the subsequent tasting, there is an extra achievement if you burp drunk in the face of your fellow player. That’s how Orcs show their respect!
However, the literally coolest quest is that of the Nords. You must strip naked and do a “bomb dive” into the ice water. In return, you receive crafting recipes for Christmas costumes.
World of Tanks – Oh Tank Tree, Oh Tank Tree…
Wargaming’s tank brawler World of Tanks usually offers thick tanks, rumbling tracks, and booming guns. Generally, everything but peaceful and contemplative.
However, during the Christmas season, the game offers a fun game mode where you drive a special tank, the KV-02 “Snow Thrower.” This is a Russian KV-2 tank made of ice that launches snowballs. When you complete quests with the Snow Thrower, you earn decorations that you can attach to the tank or a special tank Christmas tree.
As a reward for the decoration, you then unlock cool rewards, including consumables, girls as tank crew, and discount deals. But don’t take too long, the event ends on January 16.
