This year we have more Christmas events than ever in MMOs. Hardly any game misses the opportunity to celebrate the festival of love and gifts in more or less fun ways. But which events are particularly successful? We have compiled the ten funniest and most beautiful Christmas events for you.
During the Christmas season, the world transforms. Colorful lights hang everywhere, there are Christmas markets, and the radio plays more Christmas songs than even Santa Claus can handle. In MMOs, it is no different, because even in their virtual realms, Christmas is celebrated in one way or another.
Especially cool: Every MMO world has integrated Christmas into the lore of the game in its own way. For example, by having an Asura as a flying toy maker delivering gifts to the cities in Guild Wars 2 or the Protostar corporation calling for consumer frenzy under the motto “No Commerce, No Heart” in WildStar .

Every MMO Christmas event therefore consists of festively decorated cities and Christmas costumes for your heroes. However, the latter can only be earned through hard work, as only those who eagerly plunge into the special quests of the events can ultimately look forward to a Santa Claus bobble hat or a reindeer mount. Final Fantasy XIV – Think of the Children!
Square Enix’s colorful online role-playing game Final Fantasy 14 offers a particularly beautiful Christmas event. On the occasion of the “Starlight Celebration,” the cat girl Amh Garanjy wants to gift the children in the local hospital. The poor little ones have no one else to take care of them.
But if you bring them gifts, they will be even happier. As a reward, you will also receive something at the end. For example, cute Santa outfits and Christmas music for the orchestrion in your apartment houses. You have until December 31 to help Amh Garanjy and the children.
Guild Wars 2 – Attack of the Killer Toys
Guild Wars 2 has a complex background story, and Santa Claus must not be missing from it. But Guild Wars 2 would not be Guild Wars 2 if he came as a fat man with a beard. Rather, the gift bringer in Tyria is a small Asura elf named Tixx, who glides through the air with a flying, golem-shaped toy factory and annually wants to gift the residents of Divinity’s Reach.
However, every year, things go wrong, and you must bravely defeat the crazed toys in the factory. There are also numerous events, including the sadistic jumping puzzle “Winter Wonderland” and the snowball fight PvP event. The whole fun continues until January 10.
