The Canadian company Digital Extremes is primarily known to MMO fans for Warframe. With Soulframe , they are now planning a new game: a hybrid of cooperative gameplay and action MMORPG with an open world. Just before 2024, the head of the company went live on Twitch and showed over an hour of fresh gameplay.
What do we know about Soulframe?
- Soulframe is intended to be a hybrid between a cooperative game and an action MMORPG, featuring an open world and procedurally generated instances.
- The game is supposed to have a clear fantasy aesthetic – at its core, it involves a conflict between technology and nature. Soulframe is set to be a free-to-play game.
- Because the SF-MMO Warframe is doing so well and enjoys such a positive reputation in the community, having been developed excellently, Soulframe is starting with some early accolades: Many people are watching, hoping for a new fantasy MMORPG.
Soulframe was announced in July 2022, since then there has been little news about the game:
Head shows new gameplay of Soulframe on Twitch
That was the stream: On December 30, Steve Sinclair, the head of Digital Extremes, went online on Twitch and showed 75 minutes of fresh gameplay from Soulframe.
The stream had about 935 viewers at its peak live – the recording of the stream is online and has nearly 17,000 views on Twitch.
Currently, Soulframe is still in a pre-alpha state.

As reported by mmorpg.com, the stream shows among other things:
- cool combat skills
- the ability to destroy objects in the environment
- unlockable abilities that can turn enemies to stone or summon phantoms to chase down foes – along with abilities that regenerate health points and mana
