What happened? In the Japanese prefecture of Shiga, there was a curious arrest. A woman had bought a PlayStation 5 online from another woman for 65,000 yen (about 490 euros). A real bargain, because the notoriously scarce PS5 often sells for a multiple of this price on the virtual shelves of eBay and others.
Shortly after the order, a package actually arrived, which the customer paid for in cash. But upon opening the shipment, she was probably quite shocked, because instead of the next-gen console, there were two liter bottles of water in the box.
Fraudster tries to talk her way out: “I don’t remember what I sent”
What happened next? Apparently, the customer did not want to let this stand and tried to contact the seller. However, this was unsuccessful, and no contact could be established with the suspected fraudster. Since the name and further details were known, the customer alerted the police, who took up the matter.
When the officers arrived at the seller’s place and questioned her about the incident, she tried to talk her way out of it. She denied the fraud accusations and portrayed herself as an unsuspecting victim of adverse circumstances. According to her statement, she did not remember exactly what she had put in the package. “I sent the package, but I don’t remember what was inside.”
However, the police officers were not satisfied with that, and the seller was provisionally arrested on suspicion of fraud. The police continue to investigate the case.
