A US site has conducted a report on cybersex in Final Fantasy XIV. Apparently, the game is quite suitable for sexual advances.
The US site Kotaku has plunged into the world of eRP in Final Fantasy XIV.
Normally, it seems “relatively” innocent from the outside. Two avatars stand still and silent next to each other, perhaps they are only wearing underwear, the actual action takes place in private chat between them, without anyone being able to see it.
Sitting and praying was the standard for a long time
However, the eRP in Final Fantasy XIV can also get quite physical. With emotes, players can get avatars to make gestures and then simulate physical love.
According to eRP specialists, players long used emotes like “/pray” to simulate oral sex. After all, one avatar goes on its knees. Players also like to “/sit” on the edge of a bed to apparently be worshipped.
Dozing only happens in one’s own four walls
The eRP in Final Fantasy XIV changed when Square Enix introduced new poses for the emote “/doze” a year ago. Players can now assume various poses lying on their beds. The emote allows figures to pull their legs in, lie on their backs or stomachs, and doze off.

The interesting thing is: Apparently, Square Enix already suspected what players would do with “/doze”. When the emote was introduced in 2013, its use was restricted to players’ private houses to prevent inappropriate screenshots in public.
Fans of eRP read the patch notes in Final Fantasy XIV differently than most players anyway. For cybersex fans, a highlight in recent months was that FF14 received two new emotes, /pushup (push-ups) and /playdead (playing dead), which could be used for new positions.
Particularly popular for eRP are, as could be expected, the Mi’qote in Final Fantasy XIV – a race of cat-like beings. “Furries”, friends of fur grooming, seem to particularly like /doze.
Difference between cybersex and eRP
In the article, we use both terms interchangeably. That is not strictly correct.
- Cybersex is about fulfilling the sexual desires of the people behind the characters.
- eRP is about sexual interaction between the portrayed characters.
The special restriction of /doze could also explain why so many players in Final Fantasy XIV want their own house:
