The beta of the MMORPG Camelot Unchained has been postponed again.
The beta of the MMO Camelot Unchained should have been able to start any day now – but it does not. In a livestream, Mark Jacobs explained that technical issues are preventing the beta from going live. It seems that this is not a minor issue, as it was discovered that the ability system cannot handle the complexity of the skills. Therefore, the entire code of the system needs to be revised.

Reprogramming the Ability System
Mark Jacobs explains that some parts of the old system can be retained, but much needs to be reprogrammed. This is the system that triggers the corresponding skill when an icon is pressed. Jacobs believes that with the new system, skills can be introduced faster in the future. Additionally, it should positively impact the crafting system. They could have started the beta and fixed the problem afterwards, but they have the aim of starting the beta with stable systems.
They had known for a while that the code of the ability system was not the best, but releasing games is something where one cannot always focus on perfect lines of code. Therefore, they initially only wanted to do some repair work to launch the beta quickly. As it turned out, that was not so simple, which is why they have now chosen the other route.
Beta is only expected to be delayed by weeks, not months

Mark Jacobs hopes that this will only delay the beta of Camelot Unchained by a few weeks and that fans will not have to wait months. As a positive side effect, there will be additional things to see in the beta that were not actually planned for it. Anyone who is frustrated and wants their money back should simply contact support. Mark Jacobs assures fans that they will also bring the stretch goals into the game at launch, unlike other developers.
