In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone, you can now unlock the Grau 5.56, but you need to level up another weapon to get the feared rifle.
Which legendary weapon is it about? If you played Warzone in 2020 and went hunting for kills in Verdansk, you probably encountered a legendary weapon regularly: the Grau 5.56.
The Grau 5.56 was an assault rifle in CoD MW1 (2019) and Warzone, known for its extremely low recoil. The weapon was very stable while shooting and did not require much skill or training to control. Additionally, the iron sight of the Grau was very popular because it did not take up much of your field of view, for example.
An ignored weapon brings the Grau back
This is how the Grau returns: The DMR “SWAT 5.56” will be remodeled with the start of Season 3, turning the semi-automatic rifle into the fully automatic Grau.
You can unlock this remodel as a fire modification on page 5 of the free Season 3 Battle Pass and then equip it at weapon level 48 in your attachments.
The SWAT 5.56 did not play a significant role in the meta of Black Ops 6 and Warzone in Seasons 1 and 2 and was largely ignored by players. Instead, fully automatic assault rifles like the XM4 or the AMES-85 were popular for medium to long-range fights.
What does the remodel change? The SWAT 5.56 shoots fully automatically with the Grau remodel instead of semi-automatically, but it has reduced range and deals less damage than in the standard version of the DMR. To compensate, the remodel improves the weapon’s precision, mobility, and handling.
Additionally, there is an exclusive magazine extension that the SWAT does not have in its standard form. In return, all barrel attachments are blocked in the Grau remodel.
So the SWAT should play significantly differently with the Grau remodel than in its standard form.
