For some fans of the “Call of Duty” series, there is now a harsh disappointment: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Remastered is not available for individual purchase, you can only acquire it together with premium versions of the new installment in the series, “Infinite Warfare”, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This is stated in an FAQ from Activision regarding the remastered version.
Accordingly, there will be no disc for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. You must download the entire game digitally, which is only possible by purchasing the following Infinite Warfare editions:
- Legacy Edition and Digital Legacy Edition: Includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, for $79.99
- Digital Deluxe Edition: Includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, and the Season Pass, for $99.99
- Legacy Pro Edition: Includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, Season Pass, a steelbook, the official soundtrack, and additional digital items, for $119.99.
For fans who wanted to skip the pronounced futuristic setting of Infinite Warfare and hoped to settle for the remastered version, there is no way to purchase it without Infinite Warfare. Numerous players remain skeptical of the space scenario.
Graphic Comparison: Original vs. Remastered CoD: Modern Warfare
Modern Warfare Remastered includes the complete campaign of Modern Warfare from 2007. It also comes with several multiplayer modes and ten maps that were considered “fan favorites”. Furthermore, the graphics have been completely overhauled.

The 2016 version aims to elevate Modern Warfare to the graphic level expected from the current console generation. Additionally, animations and audio have been refined, with the sound being “breathtaking”.
