A player has found an annoying bug in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Fortunately, he also provides a solution – and it’s quite easy.
What is this bug? The bug is related to the field upgrade “Special Ammo Rounds”. This allows players to load a magazine of particularly powerful ammunition into their weapon.
With this, the shots from the magazine deal more damage – similar to the “Super Bullets”, but as a planned feature. Since it is larger caliber ammunition, it also significantly increases the recoil of a weapon.
Once the ammunition is fired, the player character reloads normal ammunition into the weapon. The problem is that the higher recoil still remains.
Switching weapons against the bug
How do I fix the bug? If you are affected by it, you can easily fix the bug. Once you have fired the ammunition, you just need to briefly switch weapons.
If you switch to your secondary weapon (or to whichever weapon did not have the loaded ammunition) and then back, the recoil is back to normal. The reddit user FPSKrieger shows the bug and the solution in action:
How severe is the bug? As also seen in the video, the bug at least increases the recoil by nearly 100% when using the MP5, effectively doubling it. The MP5 is the strongest submachine gun and is thus quite frequently used.
However, the bug has a second component as well. When activating the ammunition through the “Pro” feature, it can happen that the primary equipment (grenades/explosive traps) is activated. This is also seen in the clip.
Bugs and issues in Modern Warfare
Is there a patch? It is not yet known whether there will be a fix for the bug. FPSKrieger believes that the developers could “easily” eliminate these errors.
In the relevant thread, however, numerous players complain that there are many bugs and glitches in Modern Warfare. Indeed, problems have continually come to light:
- After update 1.09 many players stopped receiving XP
- The names of enemies are visible through some walls
- Recently, players have found out that killstreaks can be doubled
