Those who hurry might have already experienced the story of Borderlands 4. To keep you busy even after the credits, new content is coming to the shooter. The development team now reveals when it will happen and unveils the corresponding roadmap.
What’s next? At PAX Australia, some members of Gearbox were present. They revealed the roadmap for the coming months in Borderlands 4. And it shows that next up is a mini-event for Halloween.
The event will take place from October 23 to November 6, 2025. It is titled “Terror of Kairos” and will take place under a blood rain with the world boss. As a reward, there are 4 special skins btw. items:
- A pumpkin head “Battle Pumpkin” for all vault hunters (available via SHiFT code)
- A skin “Hexappeal” for all weapons (available via SHiFT code)
- The legendary weapon “Alder”, a Tediore assault rifle that kills weakened enemies with guaranteed critical hits at targets with less than 35% health (drop from the world boss)
- The legendary grenade “Skully”, which fires projectiles while searching for the nearest target (drop from the world boss)
The event will be available for all players. Vault hunters won’t have to wait long after this mini-event for the next content. However, not everyone can participate in the subsequent content.
Roadmap for Borderlands 4: What’s next
What free content is available? In December 2025, there is supposed to be a free, unbeatable boss and an additional level for the “Ultimate Vault Hunter” mode (short: UVH). Those who feel strong enough can challenge “Bloomreaper the Unbeatable”. He is not truly unbeatable, but requires massive health reserves and high damage output.
The new level for the UVH mode is an additional difficulty level above the others. This will help you get more special drops.
The roadmap also shows that from January to March 2026, the rarity tier “Pearlescent” will come. Experienced vault hunters may already know these from Borderlands 2.
What paid content is available? Those who own the Deluxe Edition, Super Deluxe Edition, or the Bounty Pack Bundle can look forward to the DLC “Rush Saves Mercenary Day” which will be released in December 2025 during the Christmas season.
In the first quarter of 2026, the second Bounty Pack will follow, which is supposed to be released simultaneously with the new rarity tier.
Those who own the Super Deluxe Edition or the vault hunter pack bundle, will also get the new vault hunter C4SH. He is expected to arrive sometime after the second bounty pack in the second quarter of 2026.
The following content will be available with the respective DLCs:
- Bounty Pack 1 (November 20): New missions, boss, legendary gear, vault, skins, and vehicle
- Bounty Pack 2 (Q1 2026): New missions, boss, legendary gear, vault, skins, and vehicle
- Vault Hunter Pack 1: New vault hunter C4SH with story missions, map, side missions, legendary gear, and skins
Bounty Packs 3 and 4, the 2nd vault hunter pack, and an “Invisible Boss” are expected to be released after March 2026. Here, the developers leave it open when exactly the content will be released.
