The release of Borderlands 4 is just around the corner. Now, publisher 2K has revealed what time you can start. Good news for PC players: You can start earlier than the Vault Hunters on PS5 and Xbox. Switch 2 players will have to wait longer.
Start and time: When is the release of Borderlands 4? Officially, Borderlands is set to be released on September 12, 2025, but at different times:
- For PC (Steam & Epic), the start is even one day earlier, on Thursday, September 11, at 18:00 hours German time.
- PS5 and Xbox can start on Friday, September 12, at 00:00 hours German time.
- If you want to play Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch, you will have to wait until October 3. The start time here is 00:00 hours.
We have adjusted a section in the article that did not clarify that the preload for PC is not yet available. There is currently no information on whether and when the preload for PC players will start.

Launch of Borderlands 4: Preload, Early Access and Preorder
Preload: Can I preload the game? Yes, you can now download the game in advance – but as of right now, only für PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The preload is currently about 30 GB in size. However, you should have around 100 GB of free space available for the final game.
Early Access: Is there Early Access? No, there is no Early Access through pre-orders or anything similar. Unfortunately, you will have to wait until the official launch.
Price: How much does Borderlands 4 cost? If you want, you can already preorder Borderlands 4 now in various editions. The cheapest one costs 69.99 Euros for PC and Switch 2 or 79.99 Euros for Xbox and PS5. Alternatively, there are:
- the Deluxe Edition for 99.99 Euros (all platforms)
- the Super Deluxe Edition for 129.99 Euros (all platforms)
- the Collector’s Edition for 179.99 Euros (all platforms)
