In Borderlands 4, you don’t always have teammates ready to mix it up with Kairos. So, it’s very convenient to know how to get by solo. That’s why we’re showing you the best classes for solo Vault Hunters in the tier list.
How is the list structured? In our list, we show you an action skill for each class that allows you to smoothly progress through the campaign and beyond, primarily as a solo player, with minimal effort. With them, you can easily defeat bosses and swiftly eliminate hordes of enemies. We explain what makes the action skills so special and why they are so powerful.
Note that each action skill, with the right equipment, passive skills, and strategy, can take you all the way to the endgame. S-Tier – Vex: Phase Monthly
What kind of playstyle is this? Those who played FL4K in Borderlands 3 will feel comfortable with Vex and her action skill “Phase Monthly”. Vex can summon her ally “Rabatzi”, who draws the aggro of various enemies and even damages them.
With her playstyle, every fight becomes more relaxed, as you are not constantly under fire like other classes. With various upgrades and skill points, Rabatzi also becomes more robust and deadly, as well as versatile. For example, he can:
- Launch into the air
- Enter Beast Mode, making him temporarily immortal
- Split and create a copy of himself

A-Tier – Rafa: Peacebreaker Cannon
What kind of playstyle is this? With the Peacebreaker Cannons, you are well off with Rafa, as they automatically fire at marked enemies. With various passive skills, upgrades, and skill points, the cannons can also be used in versatile ways.
You can convert them into turret allies, fire bombs that engulf large parts of the battlefield in fire, channel shock and corrosive beams, penetrate enemies, or even load rockets that then home in on your foes.
If you get creative with Rafa, you’ll recognize his versatility and will manage easily in battle thanks to his gadgets.
B-Tier – Amon: Melting Pot
What kind of playstyle is this? Amon is quite a tough character and the best tank in the game, and with the action skill of the Melting Pot, he’ll become even stronger. This class allows Amon to throw elemental axes and swords, but with some passive skills, you can make those thrown weapons operate like drones.
They will seek out the nearest enemy and pummel them. This way, they attract attention, and you can deal damage from a distance.
If you level these drones further, you can apply additional elements, so you have something to offer against almost every enemy type. The drones also gain new features and can even prepare and detonate enemies when they achieve kills.
Overall, the Melting Pot class is versatile and can also be played from a safe distance when melee combat gets too chaotic.

B-Tier – Harlowe: CHROMA Accelerator
What kind of playstyle is this? Do you want to destroy the entire battlefield in front of you with just one bullet? Then best take the action skill “CHROMA Accelerator” for Harlowe.
This skill can suck in many enemies and manually detonate them. With its radiation damage, the skill is excellent against armored enemies and bosses, and with various upgrades, the damage to enemies is also increased.
The accelerator is simply a talent that you fire, wait until a majority of the enemies are caught, only to then kill them all with a huge explosion. It’s a relaxed playstyle that can dominate the battlefield if you have calculated your trajectory well.
