Borderlands 4 is on the horizon. On board: Four brand new Vault Hunters. We introduce you to Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe and show you what they can do.
In the latest installment of Borderlands, it doesn’t go to Pandora as usual, but to the planet Kairos. There, your task is to survive as one of four Vault Hunters.
These four characters are called:
- Vex
- Rafa
- Amon
- Harlowe
We introduce the four characters to you here!
The Siren Vex – Story, Abilities, and Action Skills
Story: Vex comes from difficult circumstances and worked in retail to supplement her income. When a sale attracted a lot of mercenaries, her siren powers suddenly awakened – and she was the only one to leave the store alive.
Action Skills:
- Reaper: Vex creates a phase clone that either acts as a phantom or a reaper. The reaper attacks enemies in close combat and draws them in, while the phantom hits enemies with long-range shots.
- Incarnation: A phase explosion that damages enemies but heals Vex. As long as the skill is active, Vex can also use the “Dreadful Rush” and moves faster.
Ability: Vex’s ability is called Phase Pact. Her action skills and melee attacks adopt the elemental type of her current weapon – making her very versatile.
The Soldier Rafa – Story, Abilities, and Action Skills
Story: Rafa wears a so-called “Liveframe” from Tediore, an exoskeleton. He relies on it because due to his background, he cannot survive in normal gravity. The exoskeleton not only keeps Rafa alive but also equips him with dangerous weapons and abilities. Unfortunately, the relationship between Rafa and Tediore fell apart when Tediore realized it would be much cheaper to have the suits worked by dead soldiers. Consequently, Rafa is not too fond of Tediore.
Action Skills:
- The Apophis Lance: An arm cannon that is relatively slow but deals massive damage. Rafa shoots shock grenades with it that afflict your opponents.
- The Peacebreaker Cannons: Two shoulder cannons that deal kinetic gun damage.
- The Arc Blades: Two arm blades with which you can perform very fast melee attacks and take apart your enemies.
Ability: Rafa has the ability “Overdrive,” which is triggered whenever the action skill is activated. He becomes significantly faster and inflicts more damage.
The Knight Amon – Story, Abilities, and Action Skills
Story: Amon is a knight who originally comes from a sect that worshipped Vault monsters. Unfortunately, the sect actually found a vault monster that killed pretty much everything and everyone. Therefore, Amon has made it his goal to eliminate as many of them as possible. However, he is not the typical brute, but also an empathetic storyteller.
Action Skills and Abilities: There is no official overview of Amon yet. However, GameInformer has already had the opportunity to test the giant and reports that Amon can function as a great melee fighter. He possesses elemental axes that can be thrown, a hammer that deals AoE damage, and a shield that absorbs damage and reflects it back at enemies.
Harlowe – Story, Abilities, and Action Skills
Story: Harlowe worked as a scientist for Maliwan and fully relies on technology. The brilliant “Gravitar” is always motivated and in a good mood, but should definitely not be underestimated.
Action Skills and Abilities: There is still no official introduction for Harlowe. GameInformer describes Harlowe as a dangerous fighter who can distribute damage to multiple enemies at once with the ability “Entangled” – she essentially infects them.
She has a telekinesis ability that lifts enemies into the air and then slams them down or into other obstacles. The “Chroma Accelerator” fires a massive energy salvo, and the “Flux Generator” launches a pulse mine that also captures several enemies within its radius.
Overall, she is the crowd control character: She grabs enemies and sets them up for other players to finish off.
