In Borderlands 4 it is about looting and building powerful builds with the existing classes. Although Amon has been rather underestimated so far, a new build shows its true power in melee combat.
Not even a week ago, Borderlands 4 was launched and slowly, more and more builds are emerging for the 4 classes. Among them are also powerful builds that defeat bosses in seconds. This potential is not limited to Vex.
The content creator Moxsy is also dealing with Borderlands 4 and has now shown a strong Amon build for melee that can deal absurd amounts of damage.
A build for all melee fans
What can this build do? At the center of the build are the perks Berserker
and There is Only Red
along with the Groundbreaker specialization after you have completed the campaign. With Berserk
, Amon deals bonus cryo damage in combat for a certain time when he uses his forge skill.
With There is Only Red
, Amon can increase the duration of Berserk
if he kills an enemy during its duration. This provides additional bonus cryo damage.
As a finishing touch, the specialization Groundbreaker
comes into play. You can only unlock it when you are in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode and have completed the campaign. With Groundbreaker
, you save non-melee damage, and on your next melee hit, you consume this damage as kinetic bonus damage.
Interestingly, the bonus cryo damage from Berserk
does not count as melee damage, which means that if you have enough enemies, you can stack it infinitely, causing the damage to rise immensely.
The content creator Moxsy was able to deal damage numbers in the billions with the build. However, he also explains that this is hardly achievable in normal gameplay. You can see what it looks like in his YouTube video:
How do you build the build? In his video, Moxsy also shows how to build his build. The focus is mainly on the red skill tree (Calamity). The skill trees are as follows:
Action Skill: Scourge (theoretically it doesn’t matter as long as you have a melee attack, but this would be the fastest option)
In the red tree (Calamity):
- Impetus: 3 points
- Discombobulate: 5 points
- Titanium Knuckle: 5 points
- Gut Punch: 1 point
- The Best Defense: 2 points
- Berserk: 5 points (ideally with class mod bonus)
- There is Only Red: 3 points
- Brimming Vigor: 2 points
- My Touch is Death: 3 points
- Into the Fray: 5 points
Switch to the blue tree (Vengeance):
- Wrath of Nature: 2 points
- The Thrill: 3 points
- Cryonic Thrum (augmentation for the action skill)
- Eternal: 5 points
- Warrior’s Cup: 5 points
The weapons you have equipped do not matter for this build, since you will mainly focus on melee damage. However, you should take weapons that allow you to quickly revive yourself in case of death.
If you want to fight like a blunt barbarian in shooters, this melee build is a good choice. However, it is questionable whether this will be nerfed in the future if the perk interaction with the specialization is not intended.
