In Borderlands 3, many players are currently trying to complete the Maliwan Takedown solo. Is that also possible with Zane?
Here’s the situation with Zane: Many players have felt since the release that Zane was too weak compared to the other vault hunters. This was also because many of his skills were temporarily bugged.
With the big patch, Zane has also received some buffs. Is that enough to complete the challenging Maliwan Takedown raid solo? It is definitely difficult – but YouTuber “ThiccFilA” has managed it:
With this Zane Solo Build you can tackle the Maliwan Takedown
This is what the build looks like: The YouTuber uses skills from all three skill trees. Of course, he also uses two action skills: He has chosen the Barrier and the Digi-Clone. These two action skills are meant to ensure that Zane can endure in the takedown for as long as possible. You can see the exact skill distributions here.
Ultimate Skill Tree
These skills are required from the Ultimate skill tree: While you don’t get an action skill from this tree, the skills are nonetheless important. These include:
- Deadly Momentum
- Brutal Momentum
- Cool Hand
- Rescue
- Death is Everywhere
- Raw Violence
- Dirty Tricks
- Mind’s Eye
Especially “Mind’s Eye” is crucial for this build. It grants you immediate access to all of Zane’s kill skills by activating an action skill. He becomes significantly stronger with each activation.
With these skills, Zane can move extremely fast while dealing extra damage. The takedown is extremely hectic when done solo – so you need to keep moving to survive as long as possible.
Undercover Skill Tree
These skills are needed from Undercover: This tree primarily gives you the Barrier, which you transform into a dome using the “All-Rounder” ability. The following skills come with it:
- Adrenaline
- Rich Reserves
- Tenacity
- Charged Relay
- Sovereign and Knowledgeable
“Sovereign and Knowledgeable” grants you more damage the higher your shields are. This fits well with the Transformer shield, which we will come to later. Adrenaline ensures that your action skills are ready to use as quickly as possible – and thus also the kill skills. There are also abilities that primarily ensure Zane’s survival.
Double Agent Skill Tree
These skills are needed from the Double Agent: Here you get your second action skill, the Digi-Clone. The decoy is used to make a quick getaway: ThiccFilA often positions him in safe spots, engages in close combat, and teleports away as soon as the enemies prepare to launch strong attacks. The following skills come with it:
- Synchrony
- Uproar
- Schadenfreude
- Who is Real?
This distribution gives Zane more damage and health regeneration. The shields are also quickly recharged thanks to “Schadenfreude”.
Weapons and Equipment
These weapons are worth it: Alone with the abilities, you cannot complete the takedown. The right equipment is also important. ThiccFilA uses a blessed Shock Protuberance with Terror Anointment – and that for most of the raid. Alternatively, anointments that increase your damage at the end of the action skill are useful.
He also uses the legendary weapon Brainstormer. It deals particularly high damage when you fight many enemies – against single foes, it is less effective. However, it is well-suited for the takedown. Alternatively, the “Kill-o’-the-Wisp” is also a good option. It is especially important that you deal as much extra cryo damage as possible with one of the weapons.
The YouTuber uses the Kyb’s Worth as an SMG, which is dropped by Wotan himself. It is essential that you have corrosion damage to break through the bosses’ armor. An elemental weapon like the “Sellout” is also worth considering.
Shield and Grenades: As in the Amara build for Maliwan, Zane also uses the blessed Transformer shield with the Terror effect. It converts shock damage into personal shields and sometimes absorbs bullets. In addition, ThiccFilA uses the “It’s Piss” grenade – also with Terror Anointment, which gives you more ammunition.
Class Mod: The class mod is also extremely important. The YouTuber recommends an “Antifreeze” or “Cold Warrior.” Both ensure that Zane deals significantly more damage. For the artifacts, it is better to choose one that increases your health.
With the help of Guardian Ranks, this build would become even stronger. Unfortunately, they are currently lacking:
