Borderlands 3 features a lot of crazy weapons. You can get some of them from the delightfully quirky Mad Moxxi when you fill her tip jar.
The Borderlands series has always been known for its huge selection of wacky weapons. You can obtain them in various ways. You can defeat enemies or complete quests. One way to get nice weapons is through Mad Moxxi. This lovely barmaid is happy to supply you with firearms – if you tip her for it.
Which weapons do you get from Mad Moxxi? Of course, the good Mad Moxxi has several weapons on offer:
- The Crit
- The Hail
Short and sweet, and familiar to many from Borderlands 2. In Borderlands 3, you can get both weapons in various versions.
What can Mad Moxxi’s weapons do?
The Crit is one of the two weapons from Mad Moxxi. Some of you might remember it from the second part of the Borderlands series. There, you received the weapon from Tiny Tina.
What are the properties of The Crit? The Crit is a weapon of epic rarity. It has shock damage, making it very effective against blue shields. The weapon is produced by the company Maliwan, one of the 9 weapon manufacturers in Borderlands 3.
The exact stats of the gun depend on its level. The version shown here, Agile Crit, gives you a bonus to critical damage, as well as to fire rate and reload speed.
The other weapon is The Hail. The Hail might also be familiar to many. This weapon already existed in Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel.
What are the properties of The Hail? With this weapon, you don’t shoot your ammunition straight ahead, but in an arc. You need to factor this in when firing. Additionally, you can choose between two methods to play this weapon. You can use it fully automatic, or in a 3-shot burst. The Hail is made by the manufacturer Dahl.
For The Hail, the exact properties of the weapon also depend on the level. In the case of the version Decaying Deft Hail, you get a bonus to critical damage, your accuracy, and reload speed.
How do you get the weapons?
Mad Moxxi and her tip jar. You receive the weapons from Mad Moxxi when you pay her tips. You can find Moxxi in her bar on Sanctuary 3. You need to go through the left door and down the hallway. You can’t miss the bar since it has “Moxxxis” written in large neon letters.
On her counter, you’ll find a jar labeled “Tip.” You need to drop a tip for Mad Moxxi there. You can do this either with $100 or $1000 at once. If you’ve put enough money in, she promises you a reward. You will then receive it through your mail system.
The amount of the tip seems to vary. The YouTuber Glitching Queen had success with $15,000, $30,000, and $40,000:
And the money can really pay off. Mad Moxxi’s weapons were also strong in the previous game. Especially, they can shine with their elements. If you keep tipping Mad Moxxi, she will reward you with different versions of both weapons.
