Borderlands 3 is full of Easter eggs and there is also a special quest related to Lord of the Rings waiting for you. In the mission “Demon in the Dark” you can replay a famous scene from the saga: the fight against the Balrog. And you will get a weapon as well.
This Easter egg is about: More and more small Easter eggs are being discovered in Borderlands 3 that remind of special movies or series – such as One Punch Man or Rick and Morty.
The YouTuber Arekkz found an Easter egg related to Lord of the Rings.
In this, you need to solve a quest that lets you fight against the Balrog. In the end, you will receive a weapon that reminds you of the trilogy.
Mission “Demon in the Dark” references Lord of the Rings
This scene is about: In the trilogy of “Lord of the Rings”, the protagonists explore the mines of Moria. Enemies lurk everywhere. Pippin then finds a skull and throws it into a well.
Then a horde of enemies becomes aware of the Fellowship and attacks.
After the enemies have been defeated, Balrog, a huge burning monster, appears.
Both scenes can be found in Borderlands 3 – albeit in a modified version. For in Borderlands 3, you also encounter Balrog and can obtain a special weapon after your victory over the monster.
How to get the Lord of the Rings weapon
Here you can find the quest: The quest is called “Demon in the Dark”. You can find it on Pandora in the area of Konrad’s Hold. Look for an exclamation mark on the map, as this indicates the starting point. This Easter egg is indeed linked to a mission.
When you start the mission, you can open a large door. We recommend that you be somewhat practiced in combat, as you will need to defeat many enemies here.

What kind of weapon do you get? You will receive the weapon “Burning Chomper” here. It also somewhat resembles Lord of the Rings, as you can shoot whips that remind of the whips of Balrog.
