BitCraft Online will launch on Steam later than planned in Early Access. You should keep an eye on the new MMORPG for good reasons.
When is the new Early Access launch planned? Originally, BitCraft Online was supposed to launch in Early Access on Steam on June 20. However, one day prior, the developers at Clockwork Laboratories had to announce a delay in the launch.
The reason: They received a rejection during the review by Valve based on an issue that the developers must fix before the launch. They addressed this immediately, but the subsequent review by the platform provider took longer than hoped.
Initially, they communicated June 27, 2025, as the new launch date for Early Access. However, there has been another adjustment to the date on Steam. Now it is set for June 21, 2025.
Here is the trailer for BitCraft Online for the Early Access launch:
Survival MMORPG with Open Source
What makes BitCraft Online special? The survival MMORPG from Clockwork Laboratories adopts a Zelda-like graphic style and aims to throw all players into a single world where they can collaborate to build settlements, create an economy, and compete for territories.
In doing so, you can work as artisans, traders, monster hunters, politicians, or anything in between. The surface of the world is mutable. The survival struggle in the world will also play a role.
The developers are daring to do something that will never exist in WoW, Final Fantasy XIV, and similar games: The code of BitCraft Online will be made available as ‘Open Source’. This way, they aim to make the MMORPG genre more accessible and show others how to develop new MMOs using the SpacetimeDB platform.
The devs believe that this measure will positively impact BitCraft Online. In the past, they have already seen fantastic things from the community – like tools, spreadsheets, or fan sites. In the future, interested parties can even contribute mods and new features or help fix bugs or other issues.
However, there is also something that is not well-received by some players: BitCraft does not offer WASD controls. You can find the reasons for this design decision in this article: A new MMORPG on Steam looks like Zelda, and you can currently test it for free – but one important thing is missing
