As soon as 200 guilds have fully mastered the current raid instance of World of Warcraft on the mythic difficulty, they land in the corresponding Hall of Fame and thus secure an exclusive achievement. However, something went wrong with the current award.
Who lands in WoW’s Hall of Fame? With the World First kill of the mythic version of the final boss Gallywix from the current raid instance “Liberation of Lorehold”, the US guild Team Liquid opened the gates of the Hall of Fame for exactly this Mythic challenge on March 16, 2025 – you can find it at worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com.
The “Hall of Fame” of WoW will remain open until 199 more raid groups repeat this achievement and secure the remaining spots in the Hall of Fame. This time, it was the US guild “Twitch Prime” that captured the very last mention on the list on April 29, 2025. As a reward, an exclusive achievement plus title awaits.

What was the problem this time? When scrolling through the current “Hall of Fame,” you land at rank 184 with the EU guild “Wait for it” from the server Ysondre, which was rewarded by Blizzard on April 28, 2025, with the achievement “Hall of Fame: Chromking Gallywix” (via blizzard.com).
The problem with that: The guild founded in 2010 consists only of one member at level 35, who likely hasn’t been online for ages. The guild only has another achievement to show for it. “Everyone needs a logo” is already obtained by creating and purchasing a guild emblem. This was in April 2014. So Blizzard has obviously made a mistake.
How can this happen? This is currently being hotly debated on Reddit. The thread creator LastSpirit3622 provides part of the answer right away: There is also a guild on Ysondre named “Waít for it” that managed to defeat Chromking Gallywix on Mythic on April 23, 2025 (via blizzard.com).
An “i” instead of an “í” caused the error. At least Blizzard has now awarded the Hall of Fame achievement to the correct guild. However, the Hall of Fame itself has not yet been fixed. Moreover, “Wait for it” can still flaunt the achievement, even though it is quite possible that the inactive WoW player has not heard about it at all.
How does the community react to this? They are primarily wondering how Blizzard could make such a mistake. Many players have assumed that such allocations are done using a unique guild ID.
- minimaxir wonders on Reddit: “From a technical standpoint, this is strange. One would think they would do it with some kind of unique guild ID rather than manually searching each guild by its name.”
- Life_Fun_1327 jokes on Reddit: “Until this post, I was 100% sure they would use internal metrics and unique IDs for something like this. It looks like they just put an intern on a Windows 98 PC with RIO open” – with RIO, the player means the website raider.io.
- TheFoxInSocks is pleased on Reddit about the karma: “As someone who really doesn’t like ‘names with random special characters’, I have to admit this is somehow satisfying.”
- JD1337 finds such an error visibly embarrassing (via Reddit): “This is peak Blizzard, honestly a return to their glory days.”
The latter quote provides a great opportunity to once again explore the internal development at Blizzard Entertainment. For years, there has been a narrative that Activision has the former glorious studio on its conscience. However, those who look closer find other reasons for it: It wasn’t Activision that killed the “good old Blizzard”, but the success of WoW
