In Diablo 4, the “Blessing of the Mother” event is set to start on August 20, 2024, where you can farm XP and gold. However, that is still a while away.
What kind of event is this? In Sanctuary, the “Blessing of the Mother” event is set to start on August 20, 2024, granting you bonuses for XP and gold. The following bonuses will be available to all players in the eternal realm, in the seasonal realms, and at all world tiers:
- 35% more XP
- 50% more gold
Patch 1.5.1 was also announced for that day and was set to bring not only bug fixes into the game but also gifts for all players. The patch only went live late in the evening, and your gift is located in the game – however, the event is still on hold.
Missing bonuses, “hidden” gift
Where is the event? If you currently start Diablo 4, no XP bonus is activated, as it should be. The “Blessing of the Mother” event is delayed. In a post on X, Community Manager Adam Fletcher writes about this:
The team is investigating the “Blessing of the Mother” items. It will most likely require a hotfix, and we are working on the timing for that.
Regardless, we are considering whether to extend this event for some time or to extend a future event as compensation for the lost time.

What else was unclear? Patches in Diablo 4 often go live around 7 PM German time. However, this was not the case on August 20, and the patch only arrived late in the evening. The promised gift also caused confusion in the community.
After Patch 1.5.0, there was the bug that the chest with “guaranteed GA items” in Hell’s hordes did not drop any GA items. Thus, all players were supposed to receive a chest with legendaries that guaranteed “Great Affixes” (GA). However, various users on X and Reddit wondered where their chest went after the patch – including “tonitz4493” in his Reddit post.
Blizzard added an explanation in the patch notes. The chest “hides” in the fame system “The Gift of the Mother.” There you can pick up your chest – however, the “chest” consists of a GA item:
Characters who have completed and redeemed the reward at Level 20 from the “Gift of the Mother” can pick up their item with great affixes at the next repeatable reward. Please note that the item is distributed separately from the repeatable chest and not within it.
For characters who are receiving the “Gift of the Mother” rewards for the first time, the item with the great affixes will be included in the [chest at level 20]. We apologize for the initial inconvenience and thank you all for your patience.
Currently, Blizzard is regularly releasing hotfixes that fix bugs in Diablo 4 or nerf skills. A strong build of the Sorceress caused issues and overloaded the servers.
