First gameplay scenes from the recently announced mobile MMO Blade & Soul Revolution have emerged from the Korean G-Star 2017 event. Will the game be a mobile MMO with complex combat gameplay?
Mobile MMOs like the enormously successful Lineage 2 Revolution are a blast to play, but thanks to the auto-play feature, it feels more like an MMO hero manager than a “real” MMORPG.
Things might be different with the recently announced Blade & Soul Revolution .
Lineage 2 Revolution meets Blade & Soul
Thanks to the powerful Unreal Engine 4, Blade & Soul Revolution looks extremely good on mobile displays. The graphics are on par with the PC version, and the colorful Kung Fu world of Blade & Soul is immediately recognizable.
Like the successful mobile MMO Lineage 2 Revolution (L2R), Blade & Soul Revolution is developed by Netmarble. Therefore, the game has more in common with L2R than just the name. The entire interface looks extremely similar to Lineage 2 Revolution. The buttons for skills and attacks are basically the same.
Combo Combat System and Aerial Acrobatics
Additionally, you can clearly see in the videos from the G-Star 2017 event that Blade & Soul Revolution also includes auto-play and auto-quest features. However, the skills seem to function more complexly than in L2R. There appear to be combos, as is typical with the original Blade & Soul, which you trigger by connecting different skills.
Another highlight of Blade & Soul on PC is the cool Kung Fu maneuvers of your heroes. They can – like in a Kung Fu movie – heroically sail through the air or dash around at lightning speed. It seems that Blade & Soul Revolution has its own skill menu that allows you to pull off particularly cool stunts.
Also cool: Unlike the isometric view of Lineage 2 Revolution, Blade & Soul Revolution offers a complete 3D view, in which you can freely rotate and zoom the camera.
4 Classes with Minimal Gender-Lock?
In the videos from G-Star 2017, you can also see which classes are currently planned. There are the races of Lyn, Gon, Yun, and Jin known from Blade & Soul. As for classes, they offer you Kung Fu Master, Elementalist, Berserker, and Blade Master.

Unlike Lineage 2 Revolution, not all classes are bound by gender-lock. There seems to be a choice of gender. Except for the Yun, who are always female.
Blade & Soul is not the only franchise from NCSoft that is being released as a mobile game. Read here about what other mobile games from Korea are coming soon.
