In 2016 and 2017, a lot was planned for Black Desert. Naval battles and dark elves are awaiting players.
At Sea – a Pirate in Black Desert
Although Black Desert has only recently officially launched in Europe, fans are already thirsty for knowledge about new content. In a fairly extensive interview, mmorpg.com spoke with Daum Games (EU) and Pearl Abyss about the future of the game and revealed what players can expect in 2016 and 2017. We have listed the announced content for you.
Naval Battles in Black Desert
While there are already plenty of experiences on land in Black Desert, the sea remains almost entirely unused. Vast oceans are set to be added to the world, where there will be much to experience: in addition to proper navigation (for which you need a compass and nautical charts), it will also be possible to equip trade ships, thereby expanding your trading empire. If that sounds too boring, you can simply build a warship with your guild – as naval battles will also be an important part of this expansion.
Are you more of the explorer type? Of course, large seas do not come without sunken treasures, which you will have to dive for – there will be something for every play style.
Two New Areas: The Land of Elves and Giants
But the mainland will also be expanded. In total, at least two large zones will broaden the world. There is not much known about Dregan, the land of giants, but Kamasilvia, the land of elves, is different. The long ears have their own capital, Grandir, which is ruled by two queens simultaneously. Brolina and Herawen take care of most political matters.
Together with Kamasilvia, a new race/class combination comes: the dark elf or presumably “Dunkelelfe” in German.
Further Content Next Year
Apart from these two major innovations, there are many small things that the developers will also tackle. Among them:
- New level 9 horses
- Baby elephants (especially useful for traders)
- The introduction of more awakening weapons
However, the criticism and suggestions from fans are still taken to heart. There will soon be support for voice chats to improve communication among players.
Please keep in mind that all announced content is only “provisional” and none of it is set in stone. There could still be bigger changes, and all announcements should be understood with a “perhaps”.
Players Will Be Able to Craft More Costumes – Many Other Fan Ideas Are (For Now) Rejected
One piece of information might especially please fans of the game. It has been indicated that they want to bring more costumes into the game that players can access without a cash shop. Some costumes worn by NPCs will be made craftable, allowing players to create them themselves.
Other popular fan ideas, such as a mobile app to manage workers on the go, or UI modifications, have been excluded for the time being. A “male ranger” is also not planned, as it seems that this cannot be included in the class spectrum.
Furthermore, the restrictions in the trading system remain, as they have proven to protect against bots and thus protect players’ performances. The developers are not big fans of traditional instanced dungeons, but they do not rule this out for all time; rather, they want to go in a different design direction to compensate for the absence of such elements.
