The MMORPG Black Desert Mobile has launched on Android and iOS. Many players have already had a look at it. Here are their opinions.
How good is Black Desert Mobile: Black Desert Mobile has been officially available since December 11 in both the Google Play Store (Android) and the Apple App Store (iOS).
Previously, players could already test and play. However, this was a pre-load, in which the game itself could not actually be played yet. The ratings on both platforms therefore relate not only to the published game but also to earlier versions (as of December 12 at 6:45 PM):
- App Store (German): 3.5 out of 5 stars based on 221 ratings
- App Store (English): 4.0 out of 5 stars based on over 2,300 ratings
- Play Store: 3.8 out of 5 stars based on 38,121 ratings.
The first impressions of Black Desert Mobile are mixed but have tended to shift positively since the release. We have taken a closer look at what the first voices say about the MMORPG.
Initial Player Ratings: Good Game, Minor Issues
This is being praised: For the ratings, we filtered by the latest reviews and only looked at those that have appeared since the release. These are largely positive, contrary to many ratings of the pre-load. In this, only the character editor was available, which led to confusion and poor ratings.
Players particularly praise the graphics of the game, as well as the gameplay. Despite longer tutorials, one can have fun, fight either manually or automatically, and experience the world. MeinMMO reader Luripu writes:
I played it yesterday until level 20 and compared it with the PC version. The graphics look quite good, especially at home on the tablet at maximum settings. […]
So far, I like it and will continue to check it out.
This is being criticized: Despite the praise, there are also some things that are criticized about Black Desert Mobile. However, these rarely concern the game itself, but more often the technology or mechanics surrounding the game.
It is noticeable that especially Apple users rate Black Desert Mobile poorly. The reviews for Android are consistently better. Generally, the following criticisms are more frequently mentioned:
- technical deficiencies, the game does not run or crashes
- PvP is not fully developed
- Pay2Win accusations

What does the press say?
What other sites say: Several colleagues from gaming journalism have already given their first assessments. VentureBeat writes that especially the graphics impress. It looks just as good as many console or PC games. The feature to travel to the map with the push of a button is pretty cool as well.
Kotaku also praises the graphics, but also the character editor, which Black Desert is already known for.

Black Desert Mobile was already stronger than the PC version in Korea. Whether it will be able to establish itself in the West remains to be seen.
