The highlights of the week:
- Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail has entered its early access phase – you can revisit the launch in our ticker. - MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen was at the Heidel Ball in France to talk with the developers of Pearl Abyss about ten years of Black Desert. In addition to exciting information about the MMORPG, there were also many interesting insights and great pictures from the event.

What else has happened? The launch of Tarisland went smoothly starting June 21, 2024. With the Food Festival, there is the first in-game event. Molten Core becomes a 20-player raid
This is what happened in the big MMORPGs:
- Arenanet has revealed details about the new housing system of Guild Wars 2. The feature is set to launch with the Janthir Wilds expansion on August 20, 2024. Additionally, you can currently test the new weapon type spear in an open beta that runs until July 1, 2024.
- Apparently, the end of WoW: The War Within has been leaked. Additionally, Blizzard is once again overhauling the Mythic+ system for dungeons. Oh, and there was a first look at the login screen of the new expansion.
- WoW is returning to China soon, offering game time and exclusive prizes for the World First Race.
- The Season of Discovery in WoW Classic will enter its fourth phase on July 11. Starting July 18, you can challenge Azuregos and Lord Kazzak. From July 25, the Molten Core will open its gates in a new 20-player variant. You can also raid Onyxia’s Lair then (via news.blizzard.com).
- Elder Scrolls Online is giving away the story DLC Clockwork City in July. To get it, you need to log into the MMORPG on two different days in July.
- Black Desert is getting the new class Dosa starting July 3, 2024, which uses a sword and a tobacco pipe in combat. No joke! On June 26, there was already an update for the PC version that revised quests in several areas (via playblackdesert.com).
- In New World, the Summer Medleyfaire event started on June 26 (via newworld.com).
This is what happened in the small MMORPGs:
- On June 26, 2024, Patch 7.5b for Star Wars: The Old Republic was released. There were updates for Nar Shaddaa, the next content for the Basilisk prototype, and more (via swtor.com).
- Sadly: In Japan, a 31-year-old allegedly embezzled his grandmother’s savings, about €230,000, and invested everything in an MMORPG “Magic Sword Legend”.
- As announced, on June 27, 2024, the online service of ArcheAge was shut down (via Massivelyop).
- The expansion Mountain of Flame for Neverwinter will be released on July 16, 2024. You can expect a revised version of the adventure zone Mount Hotenow (via playneverwinter.com).
- Aion Classic will reportedly receive several content updates in 2024 according to a new roadmap (via gameforge.com).
This is what happened in the MMORPGs in development:
- A new trailer for the German hardcore MMORPG Persist Online has been released. The early access phase is expected to start soon.
- The developers of Blue Protocol explain how they want to get the anime MMORPG back on track before the launch in the West. At the same time, there were reports from Japan that Bandai Namco Online might be insolvent.
- From July 1 to July 7, the next alpha test of Corepunk will take place.
- Apparently, the Western version of Throne and Liberty will hardly differ from the already released Korean version in terms of payment model, shop, etc.
