The “Steel Wings” mode was introduced in the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV.
MOBAs are popular, and such a game mode can often be well-integrated into an MMORPG, as Final Fantasy 14 shows. The current Update 4.15 brought the game mode “Steel Wings”. In this, two teams of 24 players each compete in an arena built by Goblins to achieve dominance.
Destroy the towers and then the core!
However, it’s not easy to turn the battle in your favor. First, you need to destroy the towers of the opposing team. This is where the so-called puppets come into play, which the Goblins send into battle at regular intervals.
Once you’ve managed to destroy the towers, you disable the force field surrounding the enemy core. This makes it vulnerable, which you should then attack to defeat it and secure your victory.
War machines await you
During the fights, you will repeatedly have the opportunity to collect the earth essence. If you have enough of it, you can operate powerful war machines that can be found all over the battlefield. Taking control of these machines significantly increases your chances of victory. The “Steel Wings” mode is even available in the free trial version of Final Fantasy XIV.
The Update 4.15 also brings the Bard command “Compositions” and the sixth season of PvP battles, which runs until the release of Update 4.2. New gear is also included.
