In Destiny 2, it has been possible to earn titles for your characters since Forsaken and proudly display them in-game for everyone to see. We explain how you can earn the latest title Undying from Season 8.
What is the new title about? With Shadowkeep, new titles made their way into Destiny 2. The titles are prestigious customization options and appear visible to all other Guardians next to your player name.
As always, titles are tied to much hard work and challenging tasks. We will look into how you can receive the title “Undying” and show it off powerfully in this article.
How to Become Undying
Is this title time-limited? That is the big question. Apart from the MMXIX title from the Triumph Moments of 2019, there have been no time limits for earning titles so far.
However, to get Undying, for example, you need the activity Vex Offensive. And Bungie has already announced that it might cut old content in the future. The goal is to consume new content during the respective season, preparing for the new season and replacing it with new content from the next season.
If, for example, Vex Offensive were to be removed as seasonal content in the next season, you would no longer be able to earn the Undying title – unless Bungie makes adjustments to the requirements. So it is exciting to see whether this title will also be earnable only for a limited time. Currently, however, there are no further details about this.
This is behind the new title: To be allowed to call yourself “Undying”, you must achieve a total of 14 different triumphs. You can check your current progress anytime in the Triumphs tab. There are no secret triumphs. The tasks are divided into the following three larger areas, which we will examine separately:
- The Vex Offensive
- The Moon
- The Collection
These tasks await you in the Vex Offensive:
- Complete 100 encounters in the Vex Offensive and close three warp gates. A warp gate is closed when you defeat the last boss of the activity.
- Defeat the Undying Mind three times in the Vex Offensive. The Undying Mind will be available starting November 11.
- Close the warp gate in the Vex Offensive without dying.
- Land 500 precision kills with hand cannons, submachine guns, bows, fusion rifles, and auto rifles each.
- Achieve 200 multikills with submachine guns and auto rifles and 150 multikills with fusion rifles.
- Land 100 precision kills with hand cannons and bows each.
- Perform finisher kills. Stronger enemies give you more progress.
- Destroy 100 oracles, where the progress counts for the entire fireteam. Oracles are the floating constructs that you dissolve with the Void skulls.
These tasks await you on the Moon:
- Defeat 3 Vex Overlords. You need to defeat one boss in the areas “The Righteous Stand”, “Hellmouth”, and “Anchor of Light”. The Vex invasion zones are marked on your map and usually start shortly after a public event. If you defeat enemies and minibosses quickly enough, the invasion will continue until an Overlord spawns.
- Complete 10 public events while fully equipped in seasonal armor (the Moon armor from Eris Morn).
- Perform finisher kills. Stronger enemies give you more progress.
- Defeat enemies with Void abilities: melee abilities, grenades, and your super.
- Defeat enemies with Arc abilities: melee abilities, grenades, and your super (For melee kills, you can use a suitable sword without ammunition).
The Collection Badge: The badge for Season 8 can be accessed not through the Triumphs tab but through the Collections tab. To complete your collection, you must gather various armor, weapons, and cosmetic items. Completing the badge will take some time as you have to prove yourself in PvP, Gambit, and Strikes.
You need to complete the collection for only one of the three classes (Hunter, Titan, Warlock) to unlock the badge. Here is what needs to be collected:
- The ship “Frontspear”, which you will receive after the Dawning: Fire Test at Grandmaster level.
- Receive a complete seasonal armor set (the Moon armor from Eris Morn).
- The three ritual weapons “Randy’s Throwing Knife”, “Escape Plan”, and “Upright”.
- Get the exotic bow “Leviathan’s Breath”. You can start the quest starting October 22.
- Get all four weapons from the Vex Offensive (Scout “Imperative”, SMG “Conjunctive”, Hand Cannon “Optative”, and Pulse “Adhortative”).
- Complete all Season 8 quests from Lord Shaxx, the Drifter, and Zavala for shaders and emblems. When you complete activities in Crucible, Gambit, and Strikes, you will easily fulfill these tasks over time. Just remember to pick up the relevant bounties.
How to equip the Undying title: Once you have unlocked all the necessary triumphs, you can activate the corresponding seal in the Triumphs menu. Then you can equip the Undying title. The title will appear in the character menu and is visible to all other Guardians. This way, you show other Guardians that the Vex have nothing to laugh at with you. One wonders if the mechanical foes are equally impressed by your title?
Are you hunting for the prestigious title or do you not care about such cosmetic fluff?
