A player’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D breaks down. Shortly after, he destroys another CPU with his motherboard. He now regrets not having changed the motherboard. The problem with motherboards and CPUs is known, but so far there is no real solution to the issues.
What has the user done? The user reports on Reddit that he had bought the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and the ASRock X870 RS Pro WiFi in the first half of the year. However, the setup is said to have only worked for about two and a half months before his 9800X3D broke down.
Fortunately, he received a new CPU from AMD through RMA. But instead of changing the motherboard and eliminating the potential culprit, he stuck with his old AsRock motherboard. And this had fatal consequences for his CPU.
Because that was also destroyed after 2.5 months. He now regrets that he didn’t replace the motherboard, even though he had the opportunity.
Burned CPUs are known to AMD, but there is still no real solution
What is exactly behind it? For some time now, there have been problems between certain motherboards and AMD processors. Usually, it almost always involves the extremely popular Ryzen 7 9800x3D, which is currently considered the best and most popular CPU for gamers.
In most cases, as in this one, it often affected motherboards from the manufacturer AsRock. Other manufacturers, including Asus and MSI, are also said to be affected.
AMD has been feverishly searching for a solution for the broken CPUs for months and is supported by various motherboard manufacturers. A few weeks ago, AMD finally presented a solution for the problems: It is recommended to update the motherboard’s BIOS. According to AMD and AsRock, update 3.25 should fix many issues.
However, this very BIOS version 3.25 is precisely the one that the user has used, who supposedly had two processors fail on the same motherboard. Additionally, AsRock guarantees that its motherboards no longer present a problem and that the error should be fixed. This is reported by
the English-language magazine WCCFTech.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is considered the best CPU for gamers at the moment. However, players report numerous broken models. Some CPUs have not even survived an hour. A particular motherboard manufacturer is affected: AMD’s most popular gaming CPU has failed for over 100 players, in some cases not even lasting 60 minutes
