The beta of Star Wars Battlefront 2 is just around the corner, and a long trailer reveals tons of new features for the Star Wars shooter, including all planets, classes, heroes, and vehicles.
Battlefront II is the successor to the controversial first Battlefront, which looked great but lacked gameplay depth.
This should change in the second part, which brings more of everything that was good in Battlefront 1 and improves on a few things. A new trailer for the beta launch on October 6 (October 4 for pre-orders) shows the extent of the changes in Battlefront 2.
Battlefront 2 has more than four times as many planets as Battlefront 1
In the almost 5-minute trailer, John Boyega, better known as the former Stormtrooper Finn from Episode VII, presents the features of Battlefront 2.
The good news right away: Battlefront 2 will have more of everything at launch than the release version of Battlefront 1:
- 18 instead of 4 worlds, including Ryloth, Kashyyyk, and Kamino
- 14 instead of 6 heroes, such as Darth Maul, Rey, and Kylo Ren
- 39 instead of 11 vehicles, like tanks, AT-STs, and starships
Additionally, Battlefront 2 once again offers classes such as:
- Assault: Has medium range and explosive weapons
- Heavy: Has heavy blasters and shields
- Specialist: A sniper with traps
- Officer: Can give commands and request turrets
In the multiplayer mode, you can play in Battlefront 2 for the first time in 5 modes:
- Starfighter Assault: multistage battles in space
- Galactic Assault: 20 vs 20 massive battles
- Blast: fast deathmatch at close range
- Strike: strategic combat for mission objectives
- Heroes vs. Villains: duels between a team of heroes and a villain team
Heroes against battle points instead of power-ups – New characters planned
Heroes like Rey or Darth Maul, as well as special ships like the Millennium Falcon, are only available in Battlefront 2 through battle points. You have to earn them through good performance during the fight. The annoying power-ups from Battlefront 1 are a thing of the past.
Additionally, EA plans to introduce more heroes via updates. The first newcomers will reportedly be Finn and the grim stormtrooper commander Captain Phasma, allowing the tall woman in silver armor to finally experience some action after she only served as decoration and garbage filler in Episode VII.
