Electronic Arts presented a new trailer for the campaign of Battlefield 6 at Sony’s State of Play and allowed first testers a glimpse of the single-player gameplay. We looked at the testers’ first impressions and found that surprisingly much of the multiplayer is integrated into the solo mode.
What is the campaign of Battlefield 6 about? At the center of the campaign of Battlefield 6 is a political crisis, as the private military organization Pax Armata aims to destroy NATO.
The players embody the members of the special unit “Dagger 13.” Their mission is to go to war and stop Pax Armata on various fronts.
The campaign trailer for Battlefield 6 released during the State of Play gives a fresh taste of what to expect in single-player:
Class Gameplay and Destruction in Single Player
How is the campaign supposed to play like the multiplayer? The campaign of Battlefield 6 noticeably resembles the multiplayer of the popular shooter in the initial gameplay videos. This is also noted by Pether Bathge from GameStar, who has already played three missions of the single player.
The soldiers you embody and their comrades are not supposed to be jack-of-all-trades; rather, just like in multiplayer, they are divided into the four well-known classes: Assault, Engineer, Recon, and Support. Depending on their class, your squad members can perform various tasks for you. Your Recon marks nearby enemies in your surroundings, for example.
Which class you are currently playing is also expected to change throughout the campaign – sometimes you play as the Assault, sometimes as the Engineer. At times, you patiently repair a friendly tank, other times you crash through a wall with a sledgehammer – destruction will likely not be lacking even in the campaign.
Overall, it seems that the fast and action-packed dynamic of the multiplayer is not completely lost in the campaign, and despite NPC enemies, the typical Battlefield feeling is still present.
In addition to the campaign and the popular multiplayer, Battlefield 6 is also set to receive a Battle Royale. This is already available for selected players to test in the Battlefield Labs.
