Some fans have played the beta of Battlefield 6 and found that they sometimes do not survive long on the field. This causes frustration for many. A developer is now collecting video material to get to the bottom of the issue.
How is the beta received? From August 7, 2025 (for all with early access) to August 10, the first beta phase of Battlefield 6 took place. Many players took the opportunity to get a glimpse of the new installment in the series. On Saturday evening alone, the game broke the mark of around 521,000 simultaneous active players on Steam – and even broke a record of the major competitor Call of Duty.
Overall, the beta was well received, most are cautiously optimistic, even though there are criticisms. Besides the fast pacing, which is reminiscent of Call of Duty, one point in particular is causing discussions: the inconsistent time-to-kill.
“I die immediately and the enemies are bullet sponges”
What are players complaining about? After the end of the first beta phase, reports from players are piling up, who feel they are dying faster than they can deal damage. This often leads to having no chance to respond to gunfire. On top of that, they lose gunfights even though their shots hit.
The user laddie78 summarizes the problem in a post on Reddit as follows:
No idea if it’s just me, but I always have the feeling that it takes me much longer to kill someone than the enemy takes to kill me with the same weapons. And no, this is not a “git-gud” topic [Note: git gud means something like “get better”] – I consistently play with stats like 34-9 or 29-11, I’m not that bad.
Others confirm the problem. mackdose writes, “No, not just you. I reported the issue to the devs on Twitter, and it was confirmed there. Good news: This was also the case in the last two games and was fixed before release each time.” DaddySanctus adds, “Extremely inconsistent. Sometimes I’m a bullet sponge, sometimes I’m downed with two hits.”
Players like lllBadgerlll have tested the TTK on the shooting range: there, 3-5 shots per weapon were usually sufficient. His assumption: the extremely short TTK values in matches could be due to ping or server issues.
Another user, diluxxen, describes his frustrating experience on Reddit:
I die immediately and the enemies I shoot swallow my bullets like sponges. I constantly die behind cover. Sometimes from enemies who shouldn’t even have been able to see me – yet they still hit me. There are no footsteps, so I have no time to react. And even when I react, I’m dead in a frame.
What do the developers say about this? On August 11, game designer “DRUNKKZ3” on X specifically requested video examples where the unexpectedly short TTK can be seen. In the evening, he confirmed having received some “good videos” already.
Whether the developers will adjust the inconsistent time-to-kill and time-to-death – which is both the time it takes for enemies to go down as well as the time it takes for the player character to die – before the next beta phase remains open.
