Actually, the beta of Battlefield 6 starts only on August 7, 2025. Nevertheless, the beta reached Steam temporarily almost as many players as its predecessor Battlefield 2042. How this is possible is explained by MeinMMO.
So, how can that be? As of August 4, 2025, 5:00 PM, you can reportedly download the beta for Battlefield 6 in advance. But what to do once the preparation is complete? Well, maybe just log in and see if anything works?
Perhaps that’s what the thousands of players are thinking who have been launching the game since the download, landing in the settings menu, and thus ultimately being registered as logged-in Steam users by steamdb.info and similar sites. During yesterday’s peak, there were even 9,463 Steam users online in the – certainly very great – options of Battlefield 6.
For comparison: The predecessor from 2021, which reportedly has real gameplay to offer (with shooting and all that), had a maximum of 11,495 concurrently active Steam users in the past 24 hours, which means only about 2,000 more players.
One of the new trailers for Battlefield 6:
“I can’t believe that so many people are still playing 2042”
How is the community reacting to this? They are already celebrating this circumstance on Reddit with more than 1,500 upvotes and more than 160 comments.
- whenyoudieisaybye states the reason on Reddit: “Because it feels better to mess around with the options of Battlefield 6 than to deal with all the 2042 content.”
- PolarBearBalls2 adds on Reddit: “I distinctly remember the disaster of a user interface that was presented to us as menus in the beta of 2042.”
- CaveManta finds only one thing surprising on Reddit: “I can’t believe that so many people are still playing 2042.”
