Season 1 of Battlefield 6 starts in a week. The developers have now given a first glimpse into the contents of the update.
When does Season 1 start? As the Roadmap of Battlefield 6 announced at the beginning of October, Season 1 will start on October 28, 2025. The second part of the update will follow on November 18, and the final third part will be released on December 9.
Throughout the season, players can look forward to new weapons, vehicles, and maps. The maps, in particular, could generate discussion among players, as they lean more towards what many Battlefield veterans desire.
From Oil Fields to Suburb
When will the new maps arrive? You can play the Blackwell Oil Fields directly at the start of Season 1 on October 28. Eastwood will follow in the second part of the season on November 18.
What are the initial impressions of the update? The first players have already tested the upcoming maps, weapons, and vehicles. Our colleague Tillmann Bier from GameStar describes that the new maps tend to be larger and play slightly slower.
The suburb of the new map “Eastwood” and the “Blackwell Oil Fields” offer more space and play slower. Eastwood, in particular, is receiving a lot of praise and provides a lot of fun as an infantryman due to the numerous cover options. In the suburb, many houses are supposed to be almost completely destructible.
While you can control tanks, helicopters, and jets on the Blackwell Oil Fields, no jets are available in Eastwood. However, the new troop transport vehicle, which also serves as a spawn point, will be used on both maps. Additionally, you can also race around the neighborhood in golf carts in Eastwood.
Was there criticism? According to content creator Fabian Siegismund (via YouTube), the Blackwell Oil Fields are said to be relatively monotonous. He criticizes that the map lacks distinctive spots that bring variety. The YouTuber benbit adds that the Blackwell Oil Fields can be compared to Operation Firestorm. As an infantryman, one has – except when sniping – “not the best time,” but in a tank, the map plays quite well.
How are the new weapons? With Season 1, new weapons are also coming. The SOR-300C is a classic SCAR with a relatively low fire rate but increased damage. It is said to be quite good but not among the best weapons in the game.
More interesting is the new sniper rifle. While it deals less damage than the other sniper rifles, it can shoot faster, has more rounds in the magazine, and you do not need to leave the scope between shots to reload.
