Gaming hardware is expensive and many new games require faster PCs. Battlefield 6 and Anno 117: Pax Romana take a different approach with their system requirements: Both games are playable even on older hardware.
Players have been worried about rising prices for some time now, and some are already discussing whether PC gaming will even be affordable in the future: For a decent mid-range PC, you can now pay more than 1,000 euros, sometimes even more. But not everyone has the money to just buy a graphics card for 2,000 euros.
Games like Battlefield 6 and Anno 117 are on the right track here: Both games focus on older hardware for their system requirements, which is great news for all players who want or need to live frugally.

How does it look for Battlefield 6? If you want to play Battlefield 6 at high settings with 60 FPS, you don’t need a high-end PC: Even a 4-year-old graphics card like the RX 6700 XT or a RTX 3060 Ti is sufficient for high settings. The developers have already stated in advance that they want to forgo ray tracing so that the game runs on more computers.
It is also important: You can enjoy the game at its native resolution; even with an older graphics card, you do not need FSR, DLSS, or other upscalers to achieve 60 FPS.所谓”假帧”已经让很多玩家感到厌烦，而《Battlefield 6》故意放弃了这一点。
Anno 117 system requirements: A 4-year-old graphics card is sufficient
How does it look for Anno 117? Ubisoft takes a similar approach with Anno 117 as EA does with Battlefield 6: If you want to play the new Anno in ancient times at high settings, you only need an RTX 3060 Ti or an RX 6700 XT.
Even with relatively weak hardware like an RX 5600 XT, Anno 117 should still be playable. However, one should always keep in mind: At the lowest settings, hardly any game looks really beautiful anymore.
Not surprising: Compared to Anno 1800, which was released in April 2019 (!) and is already 6 years old, the hardware requirements have risen significantly.
Most players should be able to handle high settings
That’s why it’s good news: For most players, the presented system requirements are therefore good news: According to the latest Steam hardware survey in August 2025, most players are already gaming in Full HD, and the majority use a mid-range GPU (RTX 3060, RTX 4060, or RX 6700 XT).
Only when you want to play Battlefield or Anno in 4K or even higher settings do the requirements increase accordingly and require significantly more powerful hardware. For the majority of players, these system requirements are therefore truly good news.
And those who do not have a gaming PC or do not want to invest in a computer can play Battlefield 6 and Anno 117 on both Xbox and PS5.
Alan Wake II has launched in the Epic Store. However, some users have now compared the system requirements with the data on Steam and say: Hardly anyone will be able to enjoy the game at high details.
