As announced, Battlefield 5 is now introducing the Battlefield currency that can be purchased with real money. How do you get this currency? And what can you buy with it? We have compiled all the important information for you.
What is the new currency? The Battlefield currency, as it is officially called, is a new type of currency in Battlefield 5. It can only be purchased with real money and will complement the Company Coins that can be earned through gameplay.
When exactly is the new currency coming? The Battlefield currency will be introduced today, on April 4th, in Battlefield 5.
How do you get the Battlefield currency? It can be acquired in-game via the Company or the Arsenal.
Simply select an offer that requires the Battlefield currency, and you can then purchase it in one of the available amounts. Otherwise, you can also purchase the real money currency directly in stores.
What can you buy with the new Battlefield currency?
The developers emphasize that even with the introduction of the real money currency, victory and defeat still solely depend on the players’ skills. There should simply be more options to acquire cosmetic items or save time.
You can buy the following with the real money currency:
- cosmetic items
- elite sets
- time savings
Cosmetic items: Until now, cosmetic objects for weapons and equipment could be obtained either through direct progress (chapter rewards as well as rank-ups in career, classes, or weapons) or with Company Coins.
With the new currency, players will gain access to completely new cosmetic objects starting on April 4th. They can also purchase some cosmetics that were previously only available for Company Coins.
In the future, more new cosmetic objects will follow, which can be acquired through the previous methods and the new Battlefield currency.
Elite Sets: In Chapter 3, a new feature called Elite Soldiers or Elite Sets will be introduced in Battlefield 5. They can be played in all multiplayer modes and provide no gameplay advantages.
Each of these Elite Soldiers embodies a unique character – with their own name and background. The sets include a range of cosmetics, individual dialogue lines, and a “Best Squad” animation. Additionally, each Elite Soldier comes with an exclusive special mission. This mission aims to highlight the fighter’s story and even unlocks a character-specific melee weapon.
However, these Elite Sets will not be available immediately on April 4th. They are expected to be available at a later date. A specific date for this feature was not mentioned.
Time savings (Shortcuts): The developers plan to introduce two types of time savings for Battlefield 5:
- Level catch-ups: These are aimed at players who do not have much time to unlock all reward objects through rank-ups. This shortcut unlocks chapter rewards for them.
- XP boosts: These increase the experience points gained while playing for a certain period. This allows players to level up faster in various ranks (career, chapter, weapons, vehicles, etc.).
This feature will also not be available on April 4th and is expected to be added later in the spring.
Bundles: There will also be various offer bundles that can be purchased directly with real money. They contain a mix of various cosmetics, certain amounts of Battlefield currency, time savings, and other items. The contents will be fully listed. Players will know exactly what they are getting for their money.
On April 4th, the first two bundles will be available for purchase.

The Battlefield 5 Premium Starter Pack includes:

- Scorpion, a rare “Panzer IV” vehicle skin
- Ice Fire, a rare “Spitfire Mk VA” vehicle skin
- Chrome Finish, a rare weapon skin set for four weapons
