At EA Play, there was some new information about the upcoming Battlefield 2042. In addition to the new Portal mode, a release window for the Open Beta has also been announced. This is not far ahead of the release in October.
When does the Open Beta start? The Open Beta is expected to begin in September. The timeframe was confirmed during EA Play Live. So you can play for the first time at least one month before the release of Battlefield 2042, which is set for October 22, 2021.
A specific date has not been announced yet. However, there are some fake screenshots circulating that mention a more precise date. But EA has not confirmed this yet.
In Battlefield 5, the Open Beta even took place almost 2 months before release. So it is possible that the open test phase for Battlefield 2042 will begin early in September.
How to sign up: All players can participate in the Open Beta. It has always been the case that EA Play subscribers could start a few days earlier if they pre-order.
It is quite possible that it will be similar this time. After all, EA Play members can also play the full game a week before release.
On which platforms will the Open Beta be available? You can play it on PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series S/X, and Xbox One, as well as on PC via Steam, Origin, and the Epic Games Store.
Will the Open Beta of Battlefield 2042 be like its predecessor?
What’s included? This is currently unknown. Beta phases of earlier versions usually offered a fairly similar scope, which may at least give some indication.
How it was in Battlefield 5: In the Open Beta of Battlefield 5, two maps were playable. Additionally, there were two game modes in that beta: Conquest and Grand Operations.
Apart from the beta of the predecessor, we can also find some indications from the technical playtest.
These contents are announced for the playtest: The test primarily aims to find out how the Battlefield systems handle 128 players.
- Playing will be in the Conquest mode
- With “Orbital”, there is one map
- You will be able to try at least 4 of the new specialists
- Vehicles and aircraft will also likely be playable.
It is quite conceivable that the Open Beta will offer even more content, as the playtest focuses on the technical aspects.
When will the playtest come? This is currently not quite clear. Originally, it was supposed to start at the end of July, but was postponed due to crossplay. It is certain that this test will occur before the Open Beta.
