In Battlefield 1, you have the choice between four different classes that are on foot, as well as two “vehicle/airplane” classes that move around the map using vehicles.
The 4 infantry classes:
Assault Soldier– If you choose the Assault Soldier class, you can prepare to take out vehicles and engage in close combat. You have explosive charges with which you can destroy vehicles and planes, and you have a significant advantage in close combat over other classes.
Support Soldier – This unit is responsible for supplying teammates with ammunition and keeping the enemy at bay: With the various gadgets of the Support Soldier, you can not only ensure ammunition supply – its weapon also helps with a high rate of fire to make sure the enemy does not move and is designed for short to medium ranges.
Medic– You know this scene from Battlefield: Wounded teammates calling for the MEDIC. The special feature in Battlefield 1 is that the Medic can not only keep soldiers alive but is also capable of repairing vehicles. They also carry a weapon that is well suited for medium ranges – so once all allies are medically supplied, you can give the opposing Medics some work.
Scout – Now we come to the sniper class. Your job as a Scout is to stealthily reconnoiter or take out enemies. A powerful sniper rifle helps you with this mission. From a great distance, you can use your gadgets to reconnoiter enemies and inform your team about the enemy’s position.
In the Vehicle:
As a pilot or tank driver, you can put serious pressure on the enemy. Especially here: These vehicle classes are necessary to operate vehicles. So you do not play a Support Soldier who has gotten into a plane or a tank, but the specific class of Pilot or Tank Driver. The vehicle effectively becomes your class’s “primary weapon”.
As reported in a Q&A on the official website, the developers have also worked hard to ensure that the classes can be visually distinguished better. They still fit into the historical background of the game, but it should be recognizable when an Assault Soldier is running towards you and when it’s a Medic. By the way, you can recognize the Medic by the crutches on their back.
A brand new multiplayer mode in Battlefield 1 is waiting for you!
Three of the upcoming multiplayer modes are already known. These include the already familiar Conquest and Domination, but also a completely new mode called Operations. In the Operations mode, multiple battles are linked together. In these battles, the attacking team tries to gain ground and push the front line forward. The defending team tries to prevent exactly that progress.
Operations: The special feature of this mode is that as a defending team, you do not lose directly if you fail to hold the position during a battle. If the defenders fail to hold the position, they retreat and reform on the next map – the attackers then try to attack there again. Sectors can fall in this mode, but by demanding strong Behemoths, you might be able to turn the tide.
Conquest: In the Conquest mode, almost everything remains as players already know it. With up to 64 players, whether on foot or in vehicles, the struggle is over the control of important objectives. Of course, newly introduced units and vehicles, which you have already seen in the gameplay trailer, are a part of this.
Domination: The Domination modestands for fast infantry battles on tight maps. It is like a smaller version of the Conquest mode and has strategic mission objectives. Here, you also have to capture flags, but it takes significantly less time than in the Conquest mode.
