The big December update of Battlefield 1 activates the new Giant’s Shadow map. Additionally, there are balancing changes to weapons and new features. We summarize the patch notes in German.
As of today, you can download the new Patch X for Battlefield 1. The big December update brings several changes to the game. For example, there is a new spectator mode, a new map, and some bug fixes. Among other things, the exit button has also been fixed. We will show you what changes and fixes are included in this update.
Changes in Patch 1.05 for Battlefield 1
This morning, the Battlefield 1 servers were taken down to prepare for the December update. The new update is now available with a patch size of 3.3GB – 3.7GB.
This update includes a new multiplayer map in Battlefield 1, where you can showcase your skills. In the gameplay video of Giant’s Shadow, you can gather many impressions of the map. If you have a premium pass or a preorder version of Battlefield 1, you can play the new map starting today. The linked gameplay video also shows the new grenade launcher crossbow, which is activated in the game through this update.
Spectator Mode in Battlefield 1
In spectator mode, you can watch a Battlefield 1 battle. You can navigate the map or watch other players directly from the first-person perspective. There is also a bird’s-eye view that shows the entire map from above.
The free-moving camera is also intended to help players who like to create gameplay videos. The developers took a lot of feedback from the spectator modes of older games and catered to the community’s wishes in the new spectator mode.
New Server Setting “Standard Issue Rifles” in Battlefield 1
With this server setting, you can specify that players can only use their faction’s standard weapon. If you play as the British, you only have access to the SMLE MKIII. The Standard Issue Rifles “Sir” setting can be activated or deactivated in custom games with various other settings.
Changes to Movement and Aim Assist for Soldiers
With these changes, the developers aim to enable better movement for soldiers. Many mechanics and bugs have been fixed. Among other things, it is now possible to sprint directly from the crouched or prone position.
When playing with a controller, the player must now actively aim to receive aim assist. Previously, it was possible in certain situations for aim assist to activate just by passing by an opponent.
Vehicle Changes in the December Update
The landship has been balanced more for team play. You can now use the Mark 5 tank as a mobile spawn point to re-enter the game. This way, the vehicle should always have enough crew members and is thus more effective on the battlefield.
Additionally, the armor of this vehicle has been increased to match that of the heavy tank.
An exploit has been fixed for airplanes, which made it possible to destroy other airplanes with a single shot. Fighter planes now inflict slightly more damage with their MGs, and bombers take more damage from MGs.
Additionally, the damage from the rear gunners of an airplane has been slightly reduced. This should make it harder to switch to that position while flying and quickly destroy pursuers. While it is still possible, it is now more difficult to execute.
Weapon Balancing in the December Update
Certain shotguns were dealing too much damage and have therefore been nerfed. The Model 10-A was too powerful, as it could kill a target with full health at long range (for shotguns). As a result, the one-shot range of the Model 10-A, M97 Trench Gun, and the sawed-off shotgun has been reduced.
- Light Machine Guns have been buffed and now experience less accuracy loss with the second shot.
- Mortars are now more accurate after they were made too inaccurate in the last update. However, the damage has not changed. Additionally, the hardcore mode now features the map for aiming with mortars, but without a target indicator.
- Syringes now have a cooldown! This is intended to prevent medics from reviving many players in a short time. This cooldown does not apply when a weapon crate is nearby. Therefore, a medic can still revive mass amounts of players quickly with the help of a supporter.
- First aid kits and ammunition crates are more effective: They now heal more and provide more ammunition before disappearing. Additionally, it should now be less frequent that you are unable to deploy ammunition crates and first aid kits. If you are in front of an obstacle, they will now be placed directly at your feet.
Changes to the Hardcore Mode
For hardcore players, there will be another map. However, there will be no objectives or players displayed on it. Additionally, damage on hardcore servers has been significantly reduced. Instead of 200% damage, you will now only deal 125% damage compared to normal servers.
There will also be kill confirmations – but only for killing a teammate. Killing an enemy remains hidden.
Improvements in Stability of Battlefield 1
There were also some technical changes in the December update of Battlefield 1, such as fixing the graphics bug with dynamic resolution. More about the bugs and problems with lags.
Exit button is working again! Erik Ortman from DICE confirmed on Twitter that the exit button is functioning again. This change is missing from the list of patch notes.
