With these new concept drafts, the Battlefield 1 developers showcase their inspiration for the maps and what to expect there.
In March 2017, the first Battlefield 1 DLC will be released. This expansion includes brand new maps and weapons as well as the French army. The developers have drawn inspiration for the new maps from various events in the past. Now, the developers have presented concept drafts that give you a taste of the new battlefields. A few days ago, there was already the first teaser for the They Shall Not Pass DLC.
Battlefield 1 Map Concept: Devil’s Anvil
The map that you see in the upper image is inspired by the Battle of Verdun. At the beginning of this battle, about 1 million artillery shells were fired, which ignited huge fires in forests and on the battlefields. This battle, which entered history as “Devil’s Anvil”, aims to be as realistic as possible.
Verdun
Initial fights that took place before Verdun laid entire towns like Samogneux to waste. The Battle of Verdun lasted from February to December. In this map, players will be part of the initial attacks that happened in February 1916.
Fort Vaux Garrison
In this garrison at Fort Vaux, brave soldiers fought in the darkness for every inch. This map is a labyrinth of dark corridors. With grenades, flamethrowers, and poison gases, the Germans and the French waged a relentless war.
“Moon Landscape” of Verdun
During the Battle of Verdun, about 40 million artillery shells were fired. This bombardment created many craters, visually transforming the battlefield into a moon landscape. Beneath this moon landscape, there are tunnels and fortifications that are intended to provide new gaming experiences in Battlefield 1.
Battle of Soissons – Many Tanks
Unlike the Battle of Verdun, the Battle of Soissons inspired developers to create maps that focus on tank assaults. There, you will fight for key bridges, among other objectives.
