With these tips, you can achieve 5 kills with explosives. You need them for the Order of the Red Dragon medal in Battlefield 1.
In Battlefield 1 there are various medals that grant you bonus XP when you fulfill their requirements. Every week, you can choose from 5 medals, which are divided into several sections. One of these medals is called Order of the Red Dragon and its goal is: Get 5 kills with explosives in one life. We will show you how to achieve this goal and which explosives do not count.
Order of the Red Dragon Medal – How to get 5 kills with explosives
This medal progress is about achieving 5 kills with explosives without dying yourself. You do not have to get these kills concurrently. The difficulty lies “only” in not dying until you have exploded the 5 enemies.
- If you die but are then revived by a medic, it does not count as a death. Therefore, your progress towards the 5 kills will not be reset.

Support from a medic is an advantage for this medal progress. Many players report that using impact grenades as a support class gives you a good chance for this medal. These grenades explode shortly after impact and give enemies less opportunity to evade damage.
You will likely quickly notice that you need to significantly change your playstyle for this medal progress. It is best to find a safe spot to camp where enemies frequently appear. A good option for this are the bunkers in Argonne Forest.
Hide there as a supply soldier, set up ammo crates, and throw grenades. If possible, have a medic by your side who can revive you. In the following YouTube video, you will see how to achieve the medal progress for the Order of the Red Dragon with this tactic.
Alternative to Camping? Which Weapons Do Not Count?
Admittedly, camping in the bunker is boring and for some players morally not the “right way” to achieve this medal progress. According to Reddit and the Battlefield forums, alternatives are less effective and involve a lot of risk and luck. For example, you could blow up a fully occupied vehicle to quickly fulfill the objective.
Another option exists in the War Pigeons game mode. There, the carrier is often protected by several soldiers who are close by. In this case, grenades or explosives could be effective.
Unfortunately, you cannot use the mortar for this achievement. It would probably be too easy to get the “Order of the Red Dragon” medal as a supply soldier otherwise. Vehicle kills, such as with tanks, also do not count towards progress.
