Battleborn may not have the best player numbers, but the developers at Gearbox keep releasing cool new heroes one after another. After the water nymph Alani and the villainous Pendles the snake, now there is new support for the Peacekeepers with Ernest, a chubby little sparrow who blows everything up with bombs!
Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch may have more players and success, but when it comes to quirky and cool characters, no one can outshine Gearbox and their MOBA shooter Battleborn. Because even the 25 heroes of the release version were pretty cool, especially since the selection included anthropomorphic mushrooms, grumpy old men in hover thrones, and a shy penguin with a mech.

But that’s not all, as Gearbox has announced a new hero for each of the five factions in Battleborn, and after the Eldrid and the Banished have both received a new character – the healer Alani and the assassin snake Pendles (who incidentally has now been released for season pass holders) – the Peacekeepers are also getting reinforcements. But anyone expecting another muscle-bound killer like Oscar Mike, Montana, or Galilea is in for something quite different!
Sparrow Demolitionist
The new hero is a small, chubby bird, a kind of sparrow, and he wears a badass headband and carries a hefty grenade launcher. He also has a bomb shaped like an egg with him. Other than that, we only know that the little bird has a strong protective instinct and is said to be a brilliant demolitionist. We assume he will shoot ballistic projectiles, act from a distance, and can set deadly traps with his bomb. So Ernest is likely to be a defensive hero. The new hero is free, like all newcomers, but needs to be unlocked for 47,500 credits or a hero key. The bomb sparrow will be released according to Gearbox “in the next few months.”
Mein-MMO says: I always find it great what cool concepts and ideas the folks at Gearbox come up with, and I am now even more curious about the two remaining heroes. I’m especially interested in the sixth Jennerit. But how do you see the new hero and the characters from Battleborn in general? Cool and quirky or just silly and dumb? And don’t forget: Eight reasons why Battleborn rocks and the big differences between Overwatch and Battleborn!
