Battleborn, the cool but unfortunately unfortunate shooter-MOBA from Gearbox, will finally go Free2Play – at least the PvP part of the game.. And today! Players who have purchased Battleborn will receive additional hefty bonuses, and anyone who wishes can download the game for free
Battleborn is one of the most tragic games of recent times. The wacky shooter-MOBA from the Borderlands developers Gearbox was a good game, but it couldn’t compete with the competition from Overwatch and sank into obscurity. Even fan-organized events and porn fan art could not change that, and only a handful of people played the game daily.
Nevertheless, Gearbox and publisher 2K stuck to the Buy2Play model – until today!
Battleborn – Infinite Demo Version – Free2Play in Detail
Starting today, June 6th, a version of Battleborn will be available for free in the USA, Europe, and Japan as a Free2Play game for Steam and Xbox One starting at 6:00 PM. The PS4 version will be available here on June 13th.
This whole thing is called “free trial version” and can be used without time limit. As Free2Play players, you will receive a weekly rotating selection of six of the 30 heroes. You can play all multiplayer maps, as well as maps without time limits and level caps. In the item shop, you can unlock new heroes and other items with credits or real money.
To make it short: The PVP part of Battleborn will be available for free. However, the PvE half of Battleborn will not.
Those who buy the game will receive the 25 base heroes, eight story missions, the prologue, and access to private matches. Those who were already owners of Battleborn before the launch of the Free2Play version will be referred to as “Founders” and will receive a bunch of cool items for their loyalty:
- 1,000 Platinum
- 50,000 Credits
- Title “Founder”
- Gold Skins for Mellka and Deande
- 5 Core Loot Packs
- 1 of each Command Faction Pack (5 in total)
- 1 exclusive “Founder Loot Pack” that contains the following items:
- 1 guaranteed legendary item
- 1 guaranteed legendary boss item
- 2 common items or better
- Legendary item “Shard of Solus,” which generates shards for free
- 4 flair items, including the exclusive “Founder’s Crown”
Battleborn Free2Play – Free Download and Better Matchmaking
With the Free2Play version comes a new training room where you can try out all 30 heroes. Anyone who now reaches level 20 in Command Rank will no longer be categorized as a beginner by matchmaking and will face tougher foes. This way, experienced players cannot slaughter defenseless noobs.
