With Baldur’s Gate, a new RPG officially launched on Steam from Early Access on August 3, 2023. But how powerful does my gaming PC need to be if I want to enjoy the game in all its glory?

Baldur’s Gate 3: System requirements for PC

Minimum requirements:

• Operating System: Win 10
• Processor: Intel i5 4690 or AMD FX 8350
• Memory: 8 GB RAM
• Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970 / AMD Radeon RX 480 (4GB)
• Storage Space: 150 GB, SSD recommended.

Recommended requirements:

• Operating System: Win 10
• Processor: Intel i7 8700K or AMD R5 3600
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics Card: GeForce RTX 2060 Super / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8GB)
• Storage Space: 150 GB, SSD recommended

What do the data mean? “Minimum requirements” means that you can at least play the game. Often this means gaming in 720p (HD) at 30 FPS and low settings. Therefore, you should not expect too much.

“Recommended requirements” means that you can usually play the game at high details.

High requirements for storage space, less for graphics card and processor

What do I need for a PC? The system requirements are relatively low for entry. Both the GTX 970 and the RX 480 (4 GB) have been on the market for several years, and many players have a better graphics card installed according to Steam surveys.

The only hurdle for some players may be the high storage space requirements. After all, the game requires a hefty 150 GB on your drive. And most players are not prepared for games to keep getting bigger.

At least SSDs and hard drives (HDDs) are not really expensive and are a relatively cheap upgrade compared to upgrading the graphics card or processor.
