What kind of method is this? This method is not only fascinating but also quite quirky and comes with some bugs, as it is an exploit. The original post comes from a user named Pao (via forum.gamer). Normally you can only recruit Minthara in the good way with mods, without having to forego the tieflings.

But here are the steps to recruit Minthara the good way, shared by ZookeepergameDeep260 on Reddit:

Step 1: Take down Minthara in Act 1 with unarmed attacks

Start by directly attacking Minthara in Act 1 to temporarily turn her hostile.
After you have knocked Minthara unconscious with unarmed attacks, take care of the other two goblin leaders in Act 1. Always remember to save before continuing.
Then return to Halsin’s Mission 3 Kill Goblin Leaders before you take a long rest.
After the rest, Minthara will appear in her original spot in the goblin camp, but at this point, you won’t be able to interact with her – that will change later.

Step 2: Prepare for Act 2

Go to the Towers of Dawn in Act 2 and don’t forget to activate the way point there.
Reach level 7 and learn the spells Transformation and Animal Control. But make sure to distribute these two spells on two different characters, as they both require concentration. For example, Transformation with the mage and Animal Control on druid.

Step 3: Transform Minthara into a sheep

Return to the goblin camp in Act 1 and switch to round-based mode to better control the situation.
Cast the spell Transformation on Minthara to turn her into a sheep. Yes, really, a sheep.
Then use the spell Animal Control to make Minthara-sheep a loyal companion. Saving and loading is your friend here.

Step 4: Transport Minthara-sheep to the Towers of Dawn

Click on the icon of Minthara-sheep and teleport to the Towers of Dawn.
Drink a Potion of Hill Giant Strength to increase your strength. Because who wouldn’t want to carry a sheep? Make sure to maintain the combination of Transformation and Animal Control.
Use the ability Improvised Melee Weapon to carefully bring Minthara as a sheep to Ketheric Thorm. Use right-click to gently set her down. Because if you throw her, she might get angry and attack you.
If Minthara-sheep breaks free and tries to flee, you have two options: Either reload the game or attack her and then retreat from the fight. Invisibility potions can help you retreat from the fight.
Important to note: Also remember that the guards in the Towers of Dawn will attack Minthara as soon as they see her as Drow. So keep your distance from the guards when she is no longer a sheep.

Step 5: The Trial

Then you can withdraw again as before.
Make sure that Minthara is in this room to trigger the story scene.

Step 8: Free Minthara from her Curse

When Minthara is safe in the room and everything is prepared, talk to the gnomes to begin the mental therapy.
After that, you can warmly welcome Minthara-sheep into your party. She is now your ally.
