If you didn’t want to wait for the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3, you could have tried out the RPG in Early Access. However, this could now become a problem. Therefore, the developers have three recommendations for you regarding what you should do before the launch.
What do the developers say exactly? In a tweet, the developers announced that there could be problems between the ‘Early Access’ version and the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3. Therefore, you should:
- Delete all save files in the game.
- Delete all mods and disable automatic re-download.
- Uninstall the entire game after you have completed the first two steps.
This should ensure that you can play more on release day and don’t have to search for bugs.
120 GB, but no preload due to Steam
Is there a preload? Usually, new releases offer the option to download the game in advance, so you can start playing as soon as it launches.
For Baldur’s Gate 3, this will not be the case. The developers explain that there are issues on Steam between Early Access and preload, so they have to forego it. Otherwise, Early Access would be compromised.
The download will be 122 GB and this could cause chaos, if many people want to download the game at 5:00 PM German time.
What else can I do to prepare? A lot. For example, you can inform yourself about the 12 classes in advance, so you can decide on one of them.
- For beginners, we particularly recommend the fighter, as they are true all-rounders and can be used as melee fighters, ranged fighters, and tanks.
- The lead writer of Baldur’s Gate 3 – Adam Smith – claims that the monk is the best class.
