Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the best role-playing games of recent years. One reason for this is that it gives its players a lot of freedom. To further enhance this freedom, a few small cheats can help. We show you what cheat codes are available and how you can use them.

How to use the cheat codes? Baldur’s Gate 3 does not provide the option to cheat using console commands. Fortunately, the community has created a solution. We present the best method for using cheat codes.

Important: Since this does not involve official game content, you should always back up your save game before making any changes.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Cheat Codes via Mod

On the site nexusmods, you can find many mods that allow you to customize Baldur’s Gate 3 to your liking. You can find out how to install them and which 10 mods we particularly recommend here.

To use cheat codes via command, you need the mod “BG3SE Console Commands and Item UUIDs”.

The following cheat codes are available:

• TemplateAddTo(“UUID”, GetHostCharacter(), quantity): adds the item with the UUID you entered to the inventory
• AddGold(GetHostCharacter(), X): adds X gold
• Osi.AddExplorationExperience(GetHostCharacter(), X): adds X experience
• SetTadpoleTreeState(GetHostCharacter(), X): sets tadpole state to X (X=1: does not want to use illithid powers; X=2: wants to use illithid powers)
• AddTadpole(GetHostCharacter(), X): adds X parasites
• Osi.GiveInspirationPoints(GetHostCharacter(), X, “”, “”): adds X inspiration
• Osi.StartRespec(GetHostCharacter()): resets character
• Osi.ChangeApprovalRating(“COMPANION UUID”, GetHostCharacter(), 0, X): changes the approval rating of a character (insert UUID) to X
• SetMaxPartySizeOverride(12)
  Osi.PROC_CheckPartyFull(): increases party size

Are there any other options? Another method to get cheat codes in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the “Cheat Engine“. Here, too, there are numerous console commands to make the game easier for you or to customize it to your liking (via fearlessrevolution.com). However, it might happen that Cheat Engine is detected as a virus and initially blocked. To avoid damaging your save games, we strongly recommend a backup here.
