One might assume that the genre of MOBAs and “heroes brawlers” is getting stale, yet developers continue to come up with fresh ideas. Fans describe the game “Atlas Reactor” by Trion Worlds as a mix between X-Com and MOBA, as the game proceeds in a turn-based manner.
All players decide how they want to act with their character. Should the character be moved? Should I shoot at a specific enemy? Should I use an ability? All of this is decided in the planning phase by all players simultaneously and then handled in turn. This gives the game a very deep tactical component, while also catering to those who find the hectic pace of many action titles unappealing.
Since March 31, the game is now in an open alpha as an event, allowing all interested parties a first look at the unusual game mechanics. Here is the direct sign-up link. It seems that access will not be available for long. A closed beta is set to start on April 14.
Those who get excited about the game can now invest real money into it to secure one of the founder packs. There are a total of 4 different packs for $10, $25, $60, or $100. As is customary with founder packs, there are numerous skins and characters that are unlocked directly, which would otherwise need to be earned through in-game currency.
